Campingplatz Winkl-Landthal

While passing through Germany, we booked this campsite in advance for several nights because the area seemed very nice for walking. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service and camping. I have never seen a half hour to an hour wait at the reception in the high season and this is a small campsite... The view of the mountains is beautiful, but the road next to the campsite is very busy and loud, as is the train track . These setbacks, together with the bad weather forecast and the inability to express our concerns about the expected weather warnings at the much too busy reception, made us leave again (with quite a bitter reaction from the owner). I don't know what it's like to stay at the campsite for longer, but the first impression was certainly not positive, which is why we continued driving.

Edit after reading the owner's response:The owner initially added that they'd contact their lawyer because of my review but have deleted that part after a while. This certainly confirms my evaluation of the service.For those who are thinking about booking this camp site, let me elaborate on my review:Check in opened late, so the number of people waiting in line was growing rapidly, resulting in a traffic jam outside the camp site. Finally after roughly half an hour we were able to check in. As the weather forecast showed only rain for the entire duration of our stay, we planned on asking the owner what they thought we should do: Stay in our tent or book another place? However, due to the growing line and traffic jam, we felt this wasn't the time and place to do so. We were told to go pick a place and come back to let them know our spot (although we already confirmed a spot during booking).A little while later we went back to the reception where the line was still massive. After waiting for over 30 minutes in a line in which people became increasingly impatient and disappointed because of the lengthy check in process in which the owner struggled finding the bookings, I decided to just check out. We got an incredibly rude and condescending response and an "okay bye", not leaving room for a conversation, we left the place.Just to clarify: without the rudeness at the reception, I wouldn't even have considered reviewing the place and just left it at that.The location gets one star because it is right next to a busy road and railroad, which was not mentioned anywhere.

It's easy to get to the shopping center and you can also get to Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden pretty quickly.Sanitary facilities in top condition.Bread service topHospitality was great.We'd love to come back.Greetings Niklas

The campsite impresses with a large tent meadow, clean sanitary facilities and a great view of the Moselle. The proximity to the river is a big plus, especially in summer. A great place for a relaxed camping holiday!

We camped here with a tent.Overall it was all really nice. The view is really wonderful, you wake up and the first thing you see is the sleeping witch. The night sky is so beautiful because there is no further light pollution on the tent meadow (we were hoping for this), but if you have to go to the toilet at night, be sure to take a flashlight with you. The sanitary facilities were mostly clean (toilet always, showers not always). When you go to shower, please always wear slippers. The shower cubicles are a bit stupid and a bit narrow, if you have to shower a small child, you need imagination and skill, but in the end it worked. (after our stay here we went to another campsite, the sanitary facility was terrible)The owners were very friendly and would be happy to help you.There is an option for electricity connection at the tent meadow.There is a scullery and also a washing machine and dryer.And the option to fill up your water bottle (not every campsite has it) and the water is really, really tasty.We have decided that if we are in the area again, we will definitely camp with the Praß family.

Delightful campsite with dramatic views. Very friendly and enjoyable to stay at. Electric is charged by usage; there are water points around the site and facilities are modern clean and pleasant. Bread rolls etc can be ordered daily.You do hear noise from the road and the occasional blast from a train’s horn, but didn’t bother us.Bus stop just outside and the main buses are free with the e-guest card you receive via the campsite. Supermarket is one bus stop away or short walk. Highly recommend visiting Eagles Nest (two buses to get there) but leave a lot of time for the Documentation Centre at the bottom which is superb in telling the story of the Nazis and their connection to this region. Booking recommended. We spent over two hours there and could have spent more time. It also includes the underground bunker- so leave time for that.Easy to take bus to Jennerbahn ski resort for cable car to the top station. From here you can access various trails. Also there is Konigsee which is very pretty but very much a busy tourist area in summer. Also possible to do a day trip by bus to Salzburg.
