Meiserich is a tranquil little village in the middle of the Volcanic Eifel. Because the A48 motorway exit is only about 5km away, we can reach it (coming from Cologne/Düsseldorf) in less than 2 hours and relatively stress-free, because the A48 is only sparsely frequented. And now we find ourselves in the middle of the intact and wooded nature and its excellently maintained network of hiking trails. Here we can always relax and unwind with our children and children (along with 2 dogs) - so to speak, "escape from civilization" - and even find something positive about the somewhat weak Wi-Fi reception. What the heck, we're not here to work.Since the landlord's cottages are only a few minutes' walk from the edge of the forest and there is also a crystal-clear little stream where you can splash around for free, we especially love our refreshing summer stays in the Vulkaneifel. While the asphalt in the hot and stuffy city center of Cologne deforms at 38° C, we dangle our legs in the water and lick our ice cream.Oh yes, I would also like to comment on the issue of the deposit (which is mentioned several times here). As a holiday guest, I am also affected by this myself.Surely there are really bad guys who would love to (intentionally) destroy other people's property.Afterwards they are called "vandals".... but unfortunately you usually can't tell by looking at them beforehand. It would be too nice if it were written on everyone's forehead: "I am a vandal, born stupid, learned nothing. Beware of me."That's why I think it's understandable and reasonable that a deposit is charged. After all, it doesn't have to be the case that landlords are stuck with repair costs after the tenant changes, which immediately wipe out the meager profits. That's not how the market economy works. There are also insurance companies that you can take out in the event of damage. (e.g. household contents insurance or private liability insurance)These usually also apply if the damage occurred in a holiday home.In any case, we never had any problems with the refund of deposits. And it has already “rattled” for us (often even ;-))In my opinion, it is important that everything is clarified on site and BEFORE departure. (calmly and matter-of-factly, because "The sound makes the music")The "damage" MUST be documented - ideally with photographic evidence - Then any witnesses should sign - don't forget the date and time - and notify the insurance company as soon as possible. This is how it should work in my opinion. And the holiday will remain a fond memory!

That was nothingThe house is so inconveniently located that you can hear the nearby A48 day and night. So you don't completely escape civilization. The WiFi reception is very weak and not available throughout the house. Luckily we were able to make do with our mobile data volume. The two bedrooms are a bit small for our taste. The house itself is beautiful. The board games advertised extend to a dice cup including dice. The garbage cans were already full when we arrived and were not emptied during our stay. At high temperatures, this leads to the formation of odors and a population of flies. The contact with the landlady was very unpleasant. We found the landlady to be very unfriendly and we didn't feel like guests, but rather like an evil to be endured. We cannot recommend the Eifel Cottage and will look for another holiday home provider without the obligation to pay a deposit on our next Eifel holiday.

Please be careful! This place is a scam! They asked for a deposit of 600 euros outside of the agreement with booking and then make out false allegations to keep the deposit! If you don’t want to experience a nightmare don’t stay there!

Avoid this place, we got scammed! If they ask for a deposit, do not send it to them, we have been stolen 180€ supposedly because we have taken stolen something, without even sending any proves??? Seriouly???The place was not even that clean when we arrived, one of the heater was not working. We tried to contact them that same night to fix it, they have never replied. They charge an extra insane amount of money if you want to put 3 pieces of wood in the fire to heat the house....What a terrible experience!

One of our worst experiences. Don’t put a deposit, is a scam! We stayed with 9 people in two cabins. The host asked us a deposit of 600e sent to her own personal account. Terrible mistake. After the stay ended, they literally made up a history that we stole 6 pieces of knives and forks, and towels being lost. They took 180e from the deposit for this. They don’t offer any explanation, proof, nothing. If you don’t follow my advice of avoiding this place, at least ask for a full inventory, take pictures and videos, and don’t send a deposit to the host’s account.

Great house in a quiet and idyllic setting. After initial problems with booking via internet platforms, we had very friendly contact with the local contact person and everything was sorted out for us, for which we would like to thank you very much!Good infrastructure, everything can be reached very quickly by car (shops, maars, Nürburgring).

Unfortunately, legal letters to Google are being used to try to remove negative reviews. Please don't let the predominantly positive reviews blind you. I also recommend keeping the receipt for the deposit that you receive in a safe place - it seems that it is not a given that this will be paid back. I myself had to wait half a year for it.

Had a great weekend with friends. The house was clean and nothing was missing. A modern kitchen with all accessories for self-catering. It was nice and warm and there was a wood stove with a viewing window for romance. The owner is super nice and always tries to provide us with everything. The area is very beautiful and good paths for hiking. Would like to come back when the temperatures are warmer.
