The worst service I have ever seen. The hostel requires a 2 franc coin for the lockers, which I did not have. I offered to pay with a card or return the coin the next day, but reception refused both options. I was told to go to an ATM at 11 p.m. to withdraw a large sum just to get a coin. The receptionist hypocritically said he didn't like this situation either. Completely unacceptable!

Hello everyoneI stayed here in the hostel with my class. Where should I start? Instead of the staff, we were greeted by several birds in the dining area, it looked like the sometimes awkward and unfriendly staff were less interested in that. When I saw the menu in the canteen, I couldn't believe my eyes, 4 francs for 5dl of water, is this a youth hostel or a luxury hotel.I don't even want to start with the food. First you are greeted by an unfriendly employee, when I wanted to grab dessert, I couldn't believe my eyes again. A large piece of plastic wrap was visible on the carrot cake, which didn't seem to bother the employee standing behind. I went ahead, today is pasta day, there are different sauces and one of them was tomato sauce. I was one of the last people to get food because the sauce was already gone. I was told to wait 5 minutes and I did. I could see the chef opening the delicious cans of tomato sauce, first he puts 5l of oil into the pan then 2 cans of the delicious tomato sauce. After 10 minutes I got my plate. When I arrived at the table, I ate the pasta with a heavy heart. It tasted awful and was full of oil, with every forkful a waterfall of oil came down the fork. It was almost inedible and as if all that wasn't enough, the glued chair of the person sitting next to me collapsed and he was slightly injured. As I left the bird cage and canteen I witnessed the biodiversity in this hostel, from grasshoppers to spiders.I and three of my comrades stayed in a 4-person room hoping for a reasonably modern room, but we were given a poorly cleaned prison cell with stone brick walls and two cheap, incorrectly constructed double beds that messed up every morning. Swiss prisons are nothing compared to this!We spent some of our free time in the games room, which was equipped with a table tennis table, which was also used as a laundry room by the staff. The table tennis set included 4 eaten rackets and a ball decorated with cracks. As we played, the crack enlarged and when the staff discovered it, a comrade had to pay one franc as compensation for a table tennis ball that had already been damaged. After a few intense games of table tennis, I wanted to take a shower. Not only are the individual shower cubicles not airtight and very small, but the shower itself was also not of the best quality. On the one hand, the button system, where you have water for about 10 seconds when you press it and you have to press it again every time. Before each press you didn't know what temperature the water would be.When I got to my cell, I wanted to surf the Internet using the hostel's free WiFi. We had an inconsistent connection, the connection disconnected every 30 seconds. The mobile data didn't help either (deadline). As can be seen on the cleaning plan, the toilets in the basement had not been cleaned for five days and both urinals were out of service. You have to know.

Breakfast was satisfactory for the price. Location is good. Rooms were pleasant, only you had to move into it yourself, which is fine, but the cupboards had no lock (in the dormitory). Very nice people at the reception

The staff gave me the wrong Basel Card date (it was the same for both days), so I didn’t use it at all.The pillows, beds and quilts are all in tattersThere is no shower gel or shampoo. The shower only needs to be pressed for about ten seconds, and every time you press it again, there will be ice water for one second. The balcony of some double rooms cannot be accessed. Not recommended anyway

Amazing hostel. Lovely and clean. Great that they do have bike storage, although, there is room for improvement. It’s down some steep steps and also used for bags, so is often cluttered and hard to work on your bike. Seems like the bike storage is more of an afterthought.

Reception man on September 15, 2024 at 12:15 p.m. offered me double the prices. And I would have to pay twice as much. This is a rip off. Scary employees

Great place for every architect to stay, but besides that everything else is average, especially because stay is not that cheap for the services you get, it’s a recommendation if you are in architecture but it’s not worth 170€ per night.
