This was my second stay at the Carlton, and I will be going again. Because it was quiet, the staff (who remembered me from my first trip) upgraded my room which was really great of them. I had a comfortable stay like the first time. …

Great location. Hotel has no lift so if you want to avoid stairs request room 205. No fridges in the rooms but front desk will hold small things you need to keep cold in their fridge at the reception. Rooms are small. Beds are super uncomfortable and springy. Shower is combined with the toilet and sink, shower curtain will stick to you while you shower. No shampoo, only bar soap, and pink industrial grade soap as body gel. Only one towel per person no hand towel or face towel. They “clean the room” every day but it’s basically re making the bed with the same linen you have sleeping in the duration of your stay. No washed sheets/linen for the duration of your stay, but they do replace your towel. They also don’t clean your bathroom, toilet and won’t change your cups in the room. Carpet is already sticky and smelly they don’t vacuum it during your stay. They have a window with no screen so bugs will come into your room. Room is super out dated but does have a tv from the early 2000’s that you can only see if you’re sitting up. Walls are an extremely dirty with coffee and “other” stains. Fire alarm went off at 6am. Scared the crap out of us. Super loud in the room as they have a mid 1900’s style fire alarm set up in the rooms. We went to front desk for guidance and one other lady had come down and he told us “all good” with no explanation as to why that happened or if there was indeed a fire. All and all location is what matters as when visiting London you aren’t really in your room. Little over priced regardless of the location as the hotel is probably a 1.5 star. But you get what you pay for.

I took the risk as it was so cheap online to book: I was totally surprised by how clean it was, nice standard room for me and 2 kids, friendly staff… |Literally couldn’t go wrong with this! …

I have stayed at the Carlton three times now and enjoyed each stay. It is a budget hotel, yet it very good considering. The rooms vary from compact to spacious. The family room is excellent, very suitable for a family and well resourced. The staff are friendly and helpful and responsive if you need assistance. It is great that there is someone on reception 24 hours a day. The rooms are clean, electics up to date, USB fittings etc. I have not had the breakfast, but a continental breakfast is available. The location is really good, near the tube and within walking distaance from a number of attractions. I slept well each time I stayed, it was quiet (I was given rooms at the rear of the hotel). Photos give you an idea of the family room, there is plenty of storage for clothes and suitcases. I will be back, it suits my needs on location, budget and friendly staff.

I stayed in this hotel in 2021 and for a budget hotel it was basic but clean with friendly staff and a decent breakfast, I returned this August for 3 nights and it has so gone downhill! …

Website says free breakfast. I was told no breakfast at check in and they haven't offered it since covid pandemic. That was years ago now so using as an excuse is poor. Especially to still advertise it! I paid in full at checkin but they haven't released the funds they reserved on my card so have basically paid double. Not happy with that.Location is good and room was nice. For price I'm happy with it but it isn't exactly a high standard but I think 4 stars mapped to the price is fair.

Can’t fault this hotel! Took the risk, based on it being the cheapest on the internet and mediocre reviews. The location was stunning! Coffee shops etc nearby, close to tubes, pretty and clean area. Room was small but perfect as we only needed a place to sleep, I had my2 small children and suited us fine! Room was clean, airy, comfy pillows and beds, crisp white fresh bedding.Bathroom tiny but we are all small so we fitted! Not sure a large person would cope though 😆Reception lady was very friendly and helpful. You pay for extras like wifi and keeping bags safe but what do you expect.I’d def reccomend for people/families on the move with a budget, who just need quick pit stop to stay.

Absolutely dreadful service. I arrived before 9pm, rang the bell several times, no answer. A guest entering let me in, nobody at reception - rang the phone number several times, it went to voicemail. Three lots of guests arrived, all of us waiting, still nobody showed up. One guest managed to find a different number and eventually someone turned up - he looked at us all and said it’s not my night on, went off looking for someone, he eventually came back on his own - no apology, very rude and began checking us in. He gave me a room card for the fourth floor - I walked up 8 flights of stairs, used the room card only to find the room already occupied - this happened to other guests who were waiting. I eventually got a room but didn’t feel safe - slept with a chair up against the door. Room smelt and felt dirty. Avoid at all costs

TLDR:Does not have free breakfast.Very rude people, gave away our room the first night of our stay.Room was small, no AC, no washclothes, but in a good location easily walkable to nearby attractions. We missed our connection to London and were 90% sure we'd arrive a day late...it was not looking good so I messaged the hotel and told them we'd most likely be a day late and to not give our room away if we missed our check in day (which I have had happen before, elsewhere). We ended up making it on another flight that did arrive only a couple hours after we had originally planned...and SHE GAVE AWAY OUR ROOM for the first night and was extremely rude about it. She rebooked us for the night at a close by hotel whose price she said was comparable (it was not, she definitely made$on it)(it had shared bathrooms and paper thin walls... We could hear every time our neighbors were getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, jiggling the skeleton key, etc....however, customer service was much better at that hotel). Our room at the Carlton was much better than that place, but that's a low bar. We had our own bathroom, which was nice. The room was small but we couldn't hear our neighbors. Washclothes not provided.
