Called in on our way to a holiday let, very friendly. It was lovely to speak to local people without having music blaring. We returned and enjoyed a few more drinks. Would love to stay more local so we could use it again.

Kia ora! Popped in for a pint on a quiet Sunday evening whilst staying in town. Welcoming barmaid at this locals' wet pub. Cosy and friendly. Log fire. Decent pint as you would expect. Soon became clear to our ear that the friendly landlord propping up our side of the bar is a Kiwi. Been here since 1974 apparently.🇬🇧🇳🇿🇺🇦

Awful customer care, me and 2 friends came into the pub, all workers were staring at us as soon as we walked in, we went to go out the back for a smoke, and was talking about what we will have when we go back in drink wise, we decided, then …

Wonderful pub - shame about all the swearing. We've been to this characterful pub in this lovely north Devon market town a few times now. It's an inviting place, in spite of the gaming machine in the corner. However on each occasion our visit was marred by lots of swearing and obscene talk that was easily overheard from customers and even the landlord himself at the bar. It's a small cosy place and unless you sit outside on rear patio you can't escape the assault on your ears. Children were also within earshot of this swearing. It's a shame but we're not giving it another chance. We're going to find a more civilised place.
