Went to stay here overnight with a group of friends for a camping trip in Dartmoor. Despite arriving 2 hours late due to train delays, they assisted us readily and ensured we had a great stay. The rooms were in great condition and the facilities provided were easy to access. Before heading back home, we rebooked the hostel for another overnight stay. Even though we arrived 3 hours early, they let us in and allowed us to leave our belongings in a safe place the next day so we could explore the town before heading home. Will definitely come back here in future, thank you! :)

I stayed here for 2 days as part of a group. The location is amazing with bike hire available on-site, different walking and cycling trails close by.The only negatives are the bathrooms that could do with upgrading and the lack of sockets available in the rooms as some of the USB plugs were not working.

We stayed during August for 5 nights. When we arrived on a Monday it was quiet and we explored the youth hostel after a long drive. The next day we discovered that a group from NCS were booked in and all communal rooms were reserved.  …

Generally, I enjoy staying at the YHA but I suppose there has to be an exception at some point and this place was it. Told on arrival that chef was ill so there would be no hot food in the evening; this was the case all the time I was there. Only option was a 15 minute walk down a steep hill to town centre, 20/25 minute walk back up the steep hill on a full stomach. Is it that difficult to find a replacement chef, even in Okehampton? Fresh coffee maker was out of order on arrival, stayed that way until I left. Two members of staff said it was on 'maintenance list'. Really, no-one could sort it out quickly? Room 22, where I stayed, is to be avoided. Right next to stairwell and toilet/shower room so constantly noisy from early morning to late evening. Also, just generally a noisy corridor with people failing to control their children in the evening and loud drunks stamping up stairs and along corridor. Location was ideal with great transport links but management (not staff) have taken their eye off the ball in this YHA.

I’ve not visited a youth hostel since school so I wasn’t sure what to expect. |The location is right on Dartmoor so ideal for backpackers. It is also next to a train station so can be quite noisy. …

Great location for nearby walks - High Willhays, Belstone Tor, and more. Okehampton town on its own has plenty to entertain for a weekend. Hostel building is good with an upstairs lounge and games room. …

Wow what a lovely little railway station ! We stopped off on our journey home from few days in Cornwall and found an very clean place to enjoy a hot chocolate and cake ! The little cafe was busy but service was good and quick. Nice choice of snacks and drinks. The little original "waiting room" was beautifully restored and very well kept. Trains seemed to be arriving on time and was a nice experience all round. Good parking just outside main platform

Unbelievably inconsiderate to the local community surrounding this hostel!!!I live down the road from this facility, they love to play extremely load music and allow kids to run wild screaming on a regular basis, most weekends and weekdays in fact .(I’m 25 and love dnb btw so not exactly someone to be over sensitive about this)Not only can you not relax in the garden without constant screaming (I really wish I were exaggerating) but inside your home you can just hear bass vibrating through the house. The behaviour allowed and regular noise pollution is beyond a joke.I’m so glad we are about to move to another town away from this area.I feel so sorry for all the residents that have to live in the surrounding area, it really is disgusting that it’s been allowed to continue this long.

Came here with my local walking group over the Easter weekend.||A lovely hostel, great customer service and a very comfortable stay.||The only gripes are the over hot self catering kitchen and too few power sockets in our room, only two sockets for four people.
