We loved the location, this is why we booked. It was quiet and pretty next to the canal. The room although small was clean and nice. The welcome from the staff was friendly and efficient. However it was the food and service that really let the place down. The food in the evening was poorly executed and distinctly average. Chewy beyond edible squid, “artisan” bread that was bland and uninteresting. Chips that didn’t turn up, Then suddenly appeared 45minutes later after our meals plates had been cleared . Sticky toffee dessert was chewy and the ice cream was plain vanilla not the crystallized ginger that I had been looking forward to. It was also evident that customers around us were also having problems with their food orders. The following morning breakfast was a very similar experience. The tables were not clean as they had all been wiped with dirty cloth so were all smeared this was an unappealing start. There was crusty food on the chair cushions. To only offer filter coffee is not acceptable with the many options available nowadays. Yes we were able to ask for an espresso or americano but that was an extra charge??? The breakfast took a long time to arrive and when it did it was less than inspiring. Dried out mushrooms, cold soggy toast, slimy undercooked egg whites and everything barely tepid. A total lack of care from the chef. The manager did remove the cost of breakfast from our bill which was some compensation. However I would much prefer well prepared food and I am sure from innkeeper’s perspective you would prefer to keep the cash!It is evident that the kitchen staff are not upto scratch and it is unfortunate because the rest of the staff are being let down by the kitchen.I wouldn’t return because the food is not good enough for the prices that you are charging.

Room was very good, though no place to hang clothing. Some hangers were obscurely placed above the tea and coffee facilities, rather odd🤔 as they served no purpose. Breakfast was good, though I had to ask for toast and no cereal? 🤔Is that standard?

Great customer service. Arrived at 930pm and Leah who checked me in was fantastic. Although kitchen had been closed since 9pm she organised some food for me with Chef Shaun. Food was excellent and well presented. Good room and enjoyed my two night stay.

Came as I had work nearby the next day. This is my second stay here and it’s a great reliable and reasonably priced hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. The restaurant downstairs is great for food and breakfast. And there’s a great beer garden out the back.

Overall it was an excellent visit. Bed was comfy, initial greeting was friendly and efficient, the wi-fi was good and there were sockets beside the bed (essential requirement!).My only issue was the bathroom which was tiny. I was a sole traveller in a double room and there was nowhere to put my toiletries. It would have been a lot worse if there were 2 occupants.

Improve coffee at breakfast. Filter coffee Too weak. A bean to cup machine should be available at least. Location great, very quiet. Interior decoration and furniture very nice. Apart from the coffee we thought everything was perfect. Cooked breakfast took over 30 minutes from ordering to serving.

The room was very clean and comfortable. My suggestion for improvement is to have a bright overhead light as it was a little dim for us. The bathroom was lovely and bright. The breakfast area was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast offered a good choice and was well priced. Service staff were friendly and polite.
