When me and my husband arrived we were expecting the worst after reading all the reviews on trip advisor. We had paid £99 for dinner, bed and breakfast. When we arrived Amanda on reception was very welcoming. Our room as basic but clean. …

This is an older hotel that is kept clean and well maintained with several upgrades throughout. We received a welcome greeting from a very helpful and kind man at the desk and stayed one night in a double room on the ground floor. The rooms are comfortable with recently renovated bathrooms. The water pressure is good and there is plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable and clean.I am a pillow princess and one relatively flat pillow was all that was provided. I am sure if I had asked they would have offered more, but I was too tired to drag myself down the hall so I don't count that against them. Our dinner in the bar was great! My husband had a steak and ale pie with vegetables and I had the cordon blue. We have no complaints about the service or the quality.Overall this is a good hotel and you can't beat the price and location.

Staff were all friendly and helpful. Family room was nice. Pool table was available for free. Clean rooms and dining area. Also the bar was good, local gins kept the wife happy. Food was good too. Thumbs up for Flo on our final night, great service and banter.Good location for all the nearby walking trails. The hotel is quite old and could use some updating, but rather than complain I found it added to the charm. A few loose handles + awkward plug sockets, but nothing to write home about.Kids loved it and said I must give it 5 out of 5.

Booked a room here for a couple of nights only ended up staying one night. After our first night we were woken up by a dog barking in the room next door, our room also smelled of wet dog and found dog hair on the floor, it wasn’t the cleanest room, I made a complaint and they moved us upstairs to a different room which wasn’t any cleaner there was mould in the bathroom old tissues laying around and a needle on the floor, after I saw the needle I went back down to reception to speak with the manager and he would only offer a refund for one night and not the two, we ended up taking the one day refund and drove back home, really disappointing and the place should be closed due to the hygiene, from dirty towels and bedding to stained windows avoid, do not waste your money.

The staff here are absolutely exceptional! Incredibly kind and helpful. The rooms are slightly outdated, and the elevator was out of service when we visited (no big deal but prepare to carry luggage up a few flights). Overall a good stay as a base up to the highlands.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. On arrival there was already red flags as people were smoking weed in the hotel car park. As soon as we walked into the reception very loud music was playing and the receptionist looked rough. The first room we got put in was so mouldy and damp it was unbearable. The towels were absolutely filthy as well and obviously hadn’t been cleaned. The bedsheets were covered in stains as well.We were about to leave but got put in a “better” room but even this one wasn’t the best. The kettle was still full of water and the mugs were filthy. The shower was also faulty and the temperature just stayed boiling hot. The overall appearance of the rooms need a good makeover and to be refreshed. The place is like an old man’s pub, mud all over the hallway and stairs. The only pros of this hotel were that the receptionist that put us into the second room was lovely and helpful, was very apologetic. The view from the second room over looked the water and mountains.

Avoid.||Although the bedroom was clean it was small and the mattress was THE worst I have ever slept on!! Curtain track was broken so the curtain was half hanging off. ||Bathroom was ok but water could have been a lot hotter. …

Pleasantly Surprised! based on my visit for one night. These negative reviews are over exaggerated, very clean hotel and excellent customer service. Breakfast was a good size and was tasty. Enjoyed my stay, I would recommend!
