Former castle is now a Van der Valk Hotel. Rooms were okay, quite big with new bathrooms. A bit pricey for being in the middle of nowhere.||||The breakfast in corona times was a lot of food, the organisation took too much time. …

This is a charming old hotel in the country. Lovely grounds with a walking path. Restaurant on the property is upstairs in a separate building. The food was excellent but service was slow. Breakfast buffet was very nice. …

Absolute Value-For-Money. We loved this hotel and its historic rooms. Dinner and breakfast on the terrace of the old Schloss is good. …

If this is a four star hotel, I honestly don't know when and what for it got them. Our room wasn't clean to begin with. The carpet and the furniture have to be at least 50 years old. The bed is placed under a diagonal wall, so you can't sit in it. The hallway stinks like hell. Our room neighbors had to be moved in the middle of the night from another building in the complex as their heating wasn't working. The sauna and indoor pool were out of order for all our trip. We received no excuses for this. The grounds are lovely and the hotel is nicely placed. The restaurant is despite its horrible decor a big plus with delicious menus every evening. Restaurant staff is very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately we can't say the same about the reception staff. Not a bad hotel, but definitely not worth four stars. Nothing compared to other Van der Valk resorts.

The staff does not speak English at all, so we couldn't communicate with them, is the first time we go to an hotel where they don't speak English. If you don't speak German, is impossible to communicate. We went there with our children because they have a swimming pool, however, it was closed and they didn't notified when booking. They didn't help us at all, really bad experience, never use this hotel, and it is not good for kids.

After our booking in the Schloss hotel Ballenstedt had been over booked , we were sent to this hotel only 5 km away being told the rooms would be the same as in Ballenstedt. …

Stayed there for one night on partly business and partly leisure in early 2014. The room I got was okay, although a bit outdated. The wellness area was outdated. In general the hotel has a nice surrounding and a renovation is in place. The location is not so convenient as quite some travel time is necessary wherever you come from...

This hotel is an Hidden Gem in the region, fanstatic hotel in the countryside. I was there for the Rockharz festival in the town nearby, only 10 minutes in car. The comfort of this room was excellent after a day of music, I had incredible nights of sleep there
