We stepped in here after tent camping along the Fife Coastal Path in dire need of a shower and laundry service… both of which we found! And with that came a fantastic private room with ocean view, cozy common areas and very friendly staff, owner and other guests. 10/10 unbeatable value for money.

Simple rooms, shower and toilet across the corridor. There are no services, but there is a communal kitchen for self-catering. The rooms at the front have a view of the beach.

My first time staying at the Murray Library Hostel, or any hostel really. Was a little apprehensive especially as travelling alone. I needn't have worried, The Murray Library Hostel was a pleasing new experience.  …

This property is exceptionally value for money when accomodations up and down the Fife Coast is extortionate during summer! The Wifi is par excellence and the best for a month and a half of UK's hostel. For digital nomads, budget workaholics this is the place to be. Speed test sets it at 50mbps download speed. Mindblowing! The kitchen is just WOW! Spick and span, clean working high powered stove and with the entire range of pots, pans and woks to cook up a storm. Oh and their cooking ware is in highly respectable condition!Bed and linen is clean and you get to stay in a historical building with the weight of Scottish/Anstruther's history burnished on every single stone. Most of all, Darius is a pleasant hosts and even invited hostellers to watch Usyk vs Fury with him!I stayed here for a week plus and it was smashing! Also, Anstruther harbour is where Isle of May's ferry dock and for a sum of 38 pounds, you get an amazing day visiting them adorbs puffins! Another plus point is that ferry from North Berwick and Dunbar to Isle of May costs a princely 60 pounds for shorter hours spent on the Isle of May. It is worth your wallet to hang at Murray Library Hostel!Oh yes! Don't forget the Fife Coastal walk runs through this village too!

The hotel cancelled our booking 2 months after we made it to accommodate a group, leaving us with nowhere to stay for a wedding a few weeks before the trip. They didn't even have the courtesy to call to explain or offer any help in rebooking something in the area, they just sent a message with a simple apology. Really bad form especially from an area with limited options.

Had a lovely stay in the family room. Bed comfortable, quality sheets and a nice view. Kitchen well equipped and clean. Had a bit of trouble with the hot water for showers but someone came to sort it. Hope to be back some day.

We had an excellent stay at the Murray Library Hotel. We were 3 friends having a weekend away to swim in the East Neuk Tidal Pools so the location was perfect. …

I have stayed at this hostel several times in the past year since my enjoyable first time. I have recently now stayed a night in the shared dorm so I think I’ve probably slept in every room by now!The clean familiar smell as soon as I enter is now a happy relaxing feeling. All rooms are spotless and comfortable, the shared areas are well equipped - whether it be the kitchen area or the sitting room. Every room looks onto Shore Street so provides pleasing views.Darius, the host, makes everyone feel welcome but also harnesses an environment where all guests, from all age groups and locations, feel happy to mingle and get to know each other. I’ve stayed so many times now that I see Darius as a friend as well as a host. I now see no better place to stay in Anstruther

Perfectly located in the heart of Anstruther with sea views. As a group of 3 friends, we shared a family room which consisted of bunk beds and a double bed. The room was comfortable and the perfect size. We had a separate sole use bathroom with the BEST shower just next door - much needed after swimming in all the tidal pools in the local area. The kitchen area was large and bright with everything required to make meals, the lounge room had books and games available for use. Darius was on hand with any queries we had about the local area and a great host. Totally recommend for groups of friends or sole travellers. Wifi available which is great as mobile signal/data wasn’t great (vodafone)
