We had a wonderful stay at the Ardgowan Hotel for the Dunhill Cup. The location is perfect for golf, getting to the beach and also to bars and restaurants.  …

The perfect stay for a busy weekend. We can’t thank Lindsey enough for all she did to make our stay so special. She was super prompt in answering my emails and accommodating my needs. A truly personal touch which means so much. Thank you Lindsey and we look forward to staying again. A n T

A great location and great views—but that’s about all this place has going for it. We were told there’s no lift but the room was “just a few steps up.” …

A charming hotel in a perfect location, next to the golf course and near to the university. I slept comfortably, and was delighted to find an outlet by the bed. The shower was strong, and the products provided were great.||Lindsey at Reception was absolutely lovely.

While location is great the rooms are not. Small, out dated, and feels dirty. The carpet in our room was not vacuumed once during our week long stay. We had to ask for towels that were not replaced with housekeeping service. …

Front desk clerk couldn’t answer simple questions like where to park my car or even where my room was. Was told my room was on the 2nd floor but it was actually on the fifth floor and no lift. Tiny hole in the wall with no air con and a window that wouldn’t shut. Gave us a full size bed that was inadequate for two people and the pillows were not good. No water. No fridge. No outlets. Seagull nest right above the room has them all crowing all night. After a sleepless night, housekeeping starts at 8am in the room next door with radio blaring and loud voices. We checked out early and went the French hotel next door and had an amazing stay. When we checked out early, there was no inquiry as to the reason, no effort to improve our situation and no offer to refund us the $300 quid we paid for the unused night. I travel for a living and this is the worst place I have ever stayed.

Room was large and comfortable, bathroom was immaculate. Sheets and bedding were very nice, and there was plenty of light. Just two blocks to the Old Course or to shopping and restaurants. Special shoutout to Naomi for unflappably tracking down our lost bags. Long story, but we finally got them delivered.

The service at the reception was nice and the room had a lovely view from the window. However, despite it being windy and cold outside, the room was uncomfortably warm and stuffy. The heater was off, but there was no way to fully open the window to let in fresh air.The lighting in the room was weak, with only one lamp, and the lamp above the bed didn't work.Additionally, the checkout time was very early, between 7-10 AM, and there was no option to pay for a later checkout.I chose this hotel for my vacation, hoping to get some much-needed rest after a 6-hour train journey from England.Unfortunately, the early checkout meant I couldn't get the sleep I needed and felt rushed out of the hotel.
