This hostel was a very pleasant surprise. We stayed three nights. Compared to other hostels this was much more of a family place, not a backpacker spot. Kyleakin is a quiet part of Skye, only a few restaurants/bars. Loved the short hike to the ruined castle. We used the public bus service to explore up the east coast of the Island, super convenient with the stop right outside the hostel. The staff, especially Campbell, were super helpful and fulfilled every request for help we had. My only complaint was that the mattresses in our room were thin and hard.

In terms of a hostel, this compares favourably to others I've stayed in. Rooms were basic, but functional. Shower was good (important as we were walking and cycling). Kitchen / lounge area was good, although no hob or oven. Free tea and coffee. This area could have been cleaned more regularly also. They stored our bikes, even though they didn't advertise bike storage. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. I would stay here again.

The location of the hostel was amazing and the generic services were pretty alright. The Restaurant adjoining the hostel building is also run by the Hostel Management and the service in their was mostly good. However, there was a server (don't know his name) who had an extremely racist behaviour. My visit to Kyleakin was amazing except this person's behaviour towards me was so bad, that it bittered my whole experience. I hope he is taught not to behave in a racist manner with brown people.We had ordered 3 portions of breakfast for 4 people because we realised on the previous day that ordering 1 full breakfast for each person was way too much food for us. Hence we decided to order 1 portion less and share it. He said, this is not allowed you will have to add a basic breakfast, to which I immediately agreed. But he started shouting at me in the middle of the restaurant saying how he is doing a favour on me by letting us share the food that we ordered.Every time I remember my stay at Kyleakin this memory is at the top and leaves me extremely bitter. I hope other brown people don't go through the same.

The beds and linen were clean.Paper towels never appeared in the toilet room dispenser in the two upstairs bathrooms in 3 days.There was an aging banana under the bed that preceeded our arrival indicating the room was cleaned, just beds made. The room curtains were inadequate.The rugs really needed a good cleaning.They support you getting laundry cleaned, :-)The desk staff is friendly and helpful.The kitchen was down to one bowl and three spoons.This hostel is seriously understaffed.

The rooms were basic but did the job. Good sturdy beds and comfy mattresses. Stained carpets. Wet room bathrooms but did the job! Nothing fancy but was sufficient for the night

We stayed at the Saucy Mary as a first stop to the Isle of Skye. Arrived with little expectations, but absolutely loved it.Very friendly staff, fine rooms, and beautiful view.

The worst hostel in scotland! Smelly shared toiltets. Dirty carpet and curtains. The sink was clogged. The worst part was shower! Setting of the temperature was horrible. I burned my self with water twice.
