A beautiful location and decent hotel with an interesting historyWhen I first arrived, I was a little bit put aback by the quietness of the Loch Maree Hotel, though part of this had to do with he fact that it was the off-season by early October and that I was one of the handful of guest at the time. All things considered, the service was fair enough, it being comprised of a few people. The food was pretty good for the most part– nothing spectacular, but nice enough.Rooms were what you'd expect for a Victorian countryside building. The history behind it all is quite an interesting aspect as well. The secluded location is the real catch of this place; it is absolutely stunning, from the sunrise on the Loch to the rutting of the local deer, the natural environment made up for any concerns I may have had otherwise. Overall, not bad at all.

I had read the poor reviews before booking, but as the location was right for our stay while driving the NC500, I decided to give the Loch Maree the benefit of the doubt. …

This was a beautiful hotel, the location on the Loch was perfect and we had the room queen Victoria stayed in over looking the loch. The room was clean and tidy and the four poster bed was comfortable, we had rainbows In the day and aurora at night. The staff were friendly and attentive from the get go.The only thing we felt let it down was the dinner and breakfast. There was a limited menu which was expected but the quality of the food was poor. I had bacon and lentil soup(tasted out of a can?) That didn't come with bread, I chose the sausages and mash as a main, expecting for £16. 95 good quality local products, what I got was three freezer sausages. And £9 for dessert which was two party bite cheesecakes was laughable. I will say the lengths gone to when I asked about allergies was above and beyond. I understand it has recently changed hands so this could be a supply issue. Once sorted I would go back in a heartbeat.

A lovely traditional Scottish Hotel, with a beautiful setting on the shore of Loch Maree. The views over the Loch, small islands and mountains in distance are breathtaking. The hotel is decorated beautifully, very welcoming, warm feel. A lovely lounge area to relax, chat and have a few drinks before dinner.Dinner and breakfast were exceptional, staff very professional, friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and presented beautifully. Type of meal & service you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant, but at a very reasonable price. Our rooms were very clean, comfortable and lovely warm highland feel.Only complaint would be the pressure in the shower, was very low, but this is nit picking and didn't make a difference to my experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend it to any one doing a Highland tour, or looking to treat that some one special.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, views over the loch are beautiful. This is where the good ends! Unlike some reviews we did not find the welcome very friendly . …

This place could be really nice but the frosty welcome and atmosphere were as cold as my room. A big concentration on general customer service needed. So little effort would turn this place around. The setting is amazing. Also turn off the sombre classic music during dinner. Weird. Limited food options and one of the pasta dishes tasted like TCP, with absolutely no resolution offered to the feedback.

Hidden treasure, this beautiful little hotel with so much history from Queen Victoria staying in September 1877 to the nine deaths in 1922 is a must. …

We don't agree with some of the reviews that we read about. It is a lovely inn. We're from the US, and know that these little gems are old. The water pressure is low,but they tell you why. It comes from the springs across the road. Quaint inn, lovely staff, comfortable bed. We were in room 12.it overlooked the Loch. It's probably the best room in the inn. We enjoyed our dinner as well as breakfast.

The rooms are fabulous. Lovingly decorated and country chic. Plumbing and services a bit iffy but not often you get to stay in an inn fit for a Queen.
