Didn't stay just took a punt as we drove past to have lunch on Saturday. Some locals have just taken it over, as a way to keep it open, so they're fund-raising and running the place. Technically they weren't set to do lunches but were so gracious and made us a couple of tasty baguettes. The whole vibe was friendly and service was outstanding. Icing on the cake, a beautiful view over part of the South Downs. A lovely venue if you're in the area, we certainly will!

I had an overnight stop in the Sportsman Inn at Amberley when I was doing the long-distance South Downs Way walk. The Inn is in a wonderfully quiet location, overlooking an RSPB Nature Reserve. The room was very comfortable, very clean, great bedding and towels. Food was delicious in the evening and a tasty and nourishing breakfast. Although the Inn is quite a way from the main village and from the SDW, there is an easy cut through to get back onto the SDW. Highly recommend.

Really accommodating venue. We stored our bikes in their lockable garage - as doing SDW. Great service and friendly team, with a lovely heart of the community feel.

Popped in for a drink whilst on a walk, on hot sunny day. Too late for food so can't comment on that, but bar staff friendly and helpful. Outside seating has stunning views over Amberley Brooks with its grazing deer & cows & huge skies. White Tailed eagle visible through binoculars that are provided, a superb bonus!

A lovely, friendly pub in an incredible location. Use the binoculars to look out over the infinite landscape and watch the deer and cows wander around. Nice food and they also have darts.

Delightful stay in the heart of the South Downs. The staff and managers are so friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast. They were even kind enough to let us make sandwiches for the day. Would love to go again when it’s better weather to make the most of the gorgeous views over breakfast.
