We visited and stayed here for a wedding and had an amazing time. The venue is lovely, set on great grounds with comfortable areas inside, outside on the deck or out on the lawn.We had food for lunch, at the reception and breakfast, all of which were very good. The rooms are slightly dated, but they are also undergoing a massive refurbishment project which when finished will be the icing on the cake for this venue. The best part of the visit though was the staff. Anyone we met was attentive, polite and genuinely enthusiastic about making sure all the guests had the best possible time with them.Thank you.

Visited for a family meal on a Sunday. A few things on the menu were unavailable and we were offered alternatives. We opted for the Sunday carvery. Plates were small. Food was ok but nothing special. It was just about warm enough. …

Pros.Fantastic staff. Check in, bar and table service in the restaurant was aceFood was fantastic. The best burger I've had in a long time.Location is good.4 EV charging points but would be better if upgraded to tap and go.Cons.The rooms are so dated.Peeling paint.Tatty furniture and blinds.Apparently the hotel is under new ownership and is being renovated. So much potential.Gym and spa would be a welcome addition.

Stayed many year's ago, has recently changed ownership and looks like work on updating rooms under way. We had a pleasant stay for 2 nights with our family (3 rooms) booked and was happy with 2 of them the other was dated. Breakfast was poor quality but had one evening meal which very good, staff were very attentive and pleasant 😀 would try again hoping that any teething troubles will be sorted 😀

Where do I begin, the phone call to book a table to the end of our meal was amazing!!Dev (Manager) and his staff couldn’t do enough for us.The meal was superb and also the service.Dev entered with my husband’s cake singing “Happy Birthday.”The diners joined in too which made it extra special. We will definitely be coming here for my 70th Birthday in November.Thank you so much Dev and your wonderful staff.

This is a solid hotel. The room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was also clean. However, the shower screen needs replacing as there was a puddle on the bathroom floor after my shower. …

We were seated by the bar - too close to the bar and asked to be moved to a proper dining area.  …

Had a meal at the restaurant. Drinks forgotten to be brought twice. Overly talkative male staff member. Other younger staff members looked like rabbits in headlights. Soup came with film on top from being heated up. Carvery had no taste to it at all. "Hot" chocolate fudge cake arrived stone cold out of the fridge. Service was very poor and slow. They also add on a tip so it makes it awkward having to ask to take the tip off. Won't be going again.

Excellent stay at the Holt Lodge. The staff were fantastic and so friendly. Albeit in the middle of a change of ownership and some decorating taking place, everything ran smoothly without any obstruction and hassle. We were glad we were able to try the midweek carvery too with a delicious selection of meats and vegetables. Well worth the money and a good choice of drinks too. The Wrexham lager is always a must try when visiting too.
