Located near to our Hotel (which were not doing evening meals) The choice of food was good along with a good selection of beers and spirits, (which we sampled) staff and locals very friendly. The food arrived reasonably quickly it was hot, plentiful and tasted really good.

I do understand why Y Pengwern chooses to not serve food on Mon and Tues ( or Sun eve) as it can be very quiet but on the Weds we geared up to eat there only to be told it was too quiet so they weren't bothering to open the kitchen. …

Stayed in the village for a week and visited 3 times. Once for a drink, twice for food. Great food and service, lovely atmosphere, and a great pub garden. Dog friendly always a plus.

Went for Sunday dinner. Can honestly say it's the best Sunday dinner I've ever had. I had the roast and my mum had lamb. Plenty of great quality food, plenty of helpful staff, didn't wait long even though there was a big party in front of us. Price very reasonable to. Also its a beautiful historical building lovingly restored. And on top of that it's run excellgently by the community

My recent stay at Y Pengwern for a hiking trip with my Springer Spaniel was ideal. The staff's warm welcome and the hotel's pristine cleanliness immediately set a positive tone for our visit. This pet-friendly establishment is ideally situated for quick access to local hiking trails, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts. What truly stood out during my stay was the accommodating service during breakfast. Due to my four-legged companion, I couldn't dine in the restaurant, but the thoughtful staff member brought all the food to a separate area, ensuring a seamless dining experience. Y Pengwern goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, all at a reasonable price. I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow travellers.
