Located very near to the giant sea wall and lighthouse and a spectacular view thereof. The bed was very comfortable and room was clean and tidy. All the staff were very friendly and more than happy to assist wherever possible.  …

I am marking this on the basis that the hotel is going through an update and is work in progress, but we had a thoroughly nice stay. Lovely location, 1 star removed as the dinner service was a little slow, and if you have a garden room in this heat for security, you would have to keep your windows shut, which is a shame. Food, drink, and customer service quality was good. Would definitely stay again.

The young management team, having only recently taken over the property, are working hard to turn a failing business into a successful hotel operation, and all credit to them for their enthusiasm and efforts. Its a work in progress, but our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, and dinner and breakfast were excellent. So if you need an overnight for an early ferry, or an inexpensive few days stay, give them a try.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were doing a cycling event on the island. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We ate evening meals in the bar both nights and the food was freshly cooked and good. …

We booked this hotel hoping to get a good night's sleep after a 4 hour drive up from the south of Wales. We chose it due to it being so close to the Holyhead/Dublin ferry as we were booked on the 9am sailing the next morning. …

The hotel is adequate for what we needed, for a family of four, the bedrooms were grand for a couple nights stay clean and tidy, could have done with an extra pillow, the bathroom was fresh and clean, fresh towels. …

I appreciate that this hotel is a work in progress for the new owners and they need to monetise any space they have. However the room we had was just not fit for purpose. …

do NOT recommend!! They Complained that we used their bin because “it’s wales and they recycle” but that was the only bin provided also (bearing in mind the hygiene rating there was a 2 star). kept putting us under categories belittling us. had music blaring until 1 o clock in the morning loud enough for the walls to vibrate even though most of the drunk people were in the garden which is where the rooms are. Had very unnecessary rules about eating where you weren’t allowed to bring back food or get any delivery’s only to pay for their overpriced food inside. First got there and had to move rooms instantly due to strong smell of gas. Very rude staff including the owner had “professional staff members” banging on our window asking if we “had a fag”. Very thin walls of somebody turns a tap on or goes to the toilet it sounds as if they’re in the next room to you which then the sound lasts around 5 minutes to stop.

We did not stay at the Boathouse, but went for lunch. The Kitchen has had a new team for about 6 months and the food was excellent and freshly cooked to order. I had a tarragon chicken dish and my wife had the antibiotic free salmon. Great to see the food quailty so good and a nice varied menu. We will be back!

I cannot comment on the rooms in the hotel as we only come here as day visitors to the area. We've visited many times over the last few years with our dog and we sit in the bar to have a meal here. We have never been disappointed.
