My husband and I brought my mother in law here for a nice relaxing spa break. When we arrived, we went down to the pool to find it closed for maintenance!! …

Went for a star weekend. David Essex - great. Warner Leisure - not as great. Plenty of things going on but communication with customers prior to their arrival is inadequate. Told I couldn't check in till 3pm so arrived just after 3:30pm. Queued to check in (in the car). I was given some literature and told where to park. By the time I had checked in, parked up, found my room and unpacked it was almost 5pm. Had a cuppa and looked at the literature which said from 2pm you could book your table in the restaurant, 3:30pm there was a welcome meeting and 4-5pm they were taking reservations for tables in the entertainment room. Tried to make a reservation at reception that evening, told to see the bar staff, then told try in the morning after 9am. They said they weren't taking any more reservations. So I missed out on a decent seat for the show. Ended up on the mezzanine floor upstairs.

Had a lovely break to see David Essex. Hotel is lovely but a bit tired in some areas. Carpets a bit worn and quite a few burst seats in the dining room. The pool was out of action as being renovated we were advised a week before there would be an alternative but not on site.Activities were provided we did the shooting which was good fun. We also had cocktail making which was extra but also very good young Ashton did this it was all very entertaining. He certainly held his own with 12 willing participants tormenting him.Food was excellent hot good choices and plenty of it.

Great place. Entertainment was good on Friday and Saturday, not so good Sunday.Chairs in the entertainment room are very hard and uncomfortable, I suggest taking a cushion. You have to go to the bar to get your drinks unless you pay for VIP. It is very hard to navigate if you are in any way disabled. We had a signature room on the lower ground floor, which was very nice and very quiet.

Stayed here for a few nights this summer. Could not recommend more highly. Spectacular views around the area. Easy access to multiple coastal areas for walks or beach. Facilities on site are great, only complaint would be their being available longer each day. Food options were amazing. Buffet option gives you so many quality choices. No kids either, which adds to the relaxation factor.

OMG what a fabulous weekend. Booked here to see David Essex who was as good as ever. But I can't fault the other entertainment staff. Micky & Conner, what great guys. …

The location is incredible! We were a party of three, and I shared with my disabled sister who uses a wheelchair part-time. We were too late to book a wheelchair room. However, the one we had was fine with a shower that had a tiny step. There was plenty of room to get her in and to a chair or bed for bad days and plenty of space for her to furniture walk. The bedroom was cleaned well each day, and we did request flat sheets and firmer pillows. As we stayed for 7 nights we were still in the room on a check out day where the rooms are reset, they did take the spare items I requested, but a quick trip to reception and they were all put back. My mother, on the other hand, had booked a bath but was given a shower (one of many issues with her booking). This is our 6th Warner holiday so I found out the time for booking tables and quid 30mins early, which was lucky because there were 4 rooms in front of me! We like to do it early due to my sister. Also, with her hidden disabilities she needs specific seating. However, a number of the tables had already been booked (not holdovers) even though we were told you can't. A friendly young woman took us round, and we found the perfect space. Entertainment was not that easy. I agree with another post that said some staff were unsure of their own policies and this led to misleading information. We wasted an hour to book Entertainment seats to be told only VIP table service got booked seats, or you can pay for the seats without VIP (approx. 20pp/pn). Only Warner I've been to that does it this way. The guy kept trying to argue and was rather rude, he kept saying they couldn't do it or they would be isolating their able visitors and they can't pander to the disabled (his words). Not happy, as at this point my mother's entire booking had turned out to be completely wrong. With some help from an experienced member of staff it was all sorted (Mum got hotel credit, which they put towards the tables and extra for her to use). There are disabled tables, however we found a rather rude group kept using who were proud that they weren't disabled and kept saying things like well why should they be taken care of? Probably because they can't do the stairs, squeeze through the hundreds of seats that have been crammed in, etc.Food was OK, some lovely kitchen staff. Although the serving staff need retraining as there were so many incorrect orders going back! Had a quiet argument with an older lady who kept watching and commenting about my sister and that she shouldn't have a wheel chair if she can stand. I argued the same. She had a Walker and only used it to come in and was able to go up and down from the serving area with plates and cups, etc. Wheras my sister couldn't and would hold on to me or use her stick when looking at the food. Her husband was kind and apologised. We did some of the walks, but between use one is part time wheelchair, one has osteoporosis, and the other has slipped and damaged disks, so no one was up for a hike. I really wanted to see the white stag (we did but briefly and a great distance). We did archery and rifles, bot by the same person but well run. The pool is mid sized, a bit difficult if someone wants to do laps, and others are floating or doing circuits!Parking is awful, too many cars not enough spaces! We would do this again, but would love to actually get to see the castle or the maze as both have been shut for a couple of years now!
