Stunning views of the garden and the mountains beyond; shame about the accommodation. The breakfast area is in a cramped space between the front door and the stairs and is dark and gloomy. requiring electric lighting to be on for most of the day. Breakfast follows a standard pattern of breakfast cereals laid out on a buffet table followed by cooked options and racks of toast. A choice of fresh fruit or fruit compote would have been a welcome addition as well as some vegetarian options included in the cooked breakfast menu. And warm, rather than cold, croissants! The en-suite room needs serious smartening and updating. (A decent TV perhaps not a bad idea?).The bed has an impossibly heavy duvet (at least 200 tog it would seem!) and very hard mattress. This along with the (un-nerving) shining of a torch through the upper windows at night made for very restless sleep.. Rules and regulations abound: don’t open windows; switch off the lights; don’t use the communal bathroom on the landing, which made it at times rather like being at boarding school under the control and watchful eye of the matron. In a peaceful and idyllic location (note: you need a car to reach it and a Smartphone to communicate with the outside world) and I enjoyed the amazing walks if not the unrelaxing time spent in the house. To have to pay £90 for a rather joyless two day stay with an extremely uncomfortable bed and sparse breakfast seemed an insult. Needless to say, will not be returning.
