The rooms in this hostel are okay. There was enough space for all our stuff. The location is great, too. It's not too far to the city centre. The other really positive thing to mention is that the staff there is really nice. Anything else didn't fulfill our expectations. The bathroom was really small, extremely smelly and kind of dirty. The shower was either too cold or too hot. The corridor was very smelly aswell. Also we couldn't open our window anymore so our room got kind of wet. Also the walls are really thin so we could hear everything in the house and from the streets aswell. We were in the first floor so if we wouldn't have closed the blinds everybody from the streets would have directly looked in our room. So our recommendation is: If it's possible for you, pay a little more and find something else.

We had a great stay here. The room was clean and spacious. The shared amenities were clean and organized. Toiletries, coffee, and tea were available at the reception free of charge, except for the towels. The place was located in a quiet environment, near bus stops, shops, and restaurants. Definitely recommended if looking for a stay in Edinburgh.

I would rate this as a very mixed experience. The reception staff was very nice. The room itself quite good for its price (shame that plugs were a bit far from the bed). My "house mates" were all very quiet and I didn't really even bump into them during my stay.It was a bit strange to me that towels would have to be rented but I caught this before travelling so I brought my own.I'm not used to having shared bathrooms but I was really disappointed at the complete lack of cleanness. In the bathroom, the floors were covered in mud, all of the hangers and surfaces were far from the shower and there was no toilet paper. Reception staff gave us more toilet paper but even they acknowledged that it wasnt the first time a house had not been restocked. At least the shower worked well.

I was staying at Destiny Student Meadow Court this past weekend and we booked this place thinking it was clean and it you had the ability to cook and clean. When we got there it was all dark and it was dirty and smelled horrible. When we got to the rooms it was so different from what we had booked. It was disgusting none of the appliances worked the tv,stove, and kettle. When we went to look through all the rooms we found that the shower smelled horrible like it pee was smeared all over the floor. One of the windows didn’t close and keep in mind it was below 56 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The next day one of my family members got sick. On the second day we found bugs all over the bed. We talked to the receptionist and she was try to help us but it still didn’t fix anything.

My room was not very clean, floors were slightly sticky and cupboards were dusty or had some scraps/ leftovers in them. Bed are quite soft and the pillows are very low volume. The bathrooms are what you could expect from a student accommodation. Kitchen area had no organisation which could easily be improved with some labels put in place.Price is decent but maybe on the higher end of what it’s really worth.Overall there’s loads of improvements that could be made.

Upon arriving at the accommodation we were greeted by friendly staff who booked us in and gave us our key. Once getting to the block our room was in we realised we were on the 5th floor with NO lift and so had to carry our luggage up all the flights of stairs. When we got to the flat we located our room and noticed the door handle had been completely broken off and so getting into the room was impossible. My partner and I then sat in the communal space to catch our breath and call the reception but when we walked into the room we noticed cobwebs from the window to seats, glass hob cracked throughout so not safe to use, as well as the floor and counter surfaces damaged. After speaking to the staff they asked us to come back down to reception and we would be put into another room. The reception sounded visibly surprised that there was no handle, which begs the question of when that room was last checked/cleaned.We finally made our way downstairs and caught our breath and were given a new room, luckily on the ground floor. Now considering this is meant to be a "student" accommodation I would hate to see any student staying in these rooms throughout the academic year as when we walked into the room we were greeted by a poorly ventilated box - I feel prison cells have more life to them. We sat on the bed before heading back out and were shocked by how uncomfortable it was and the "pillows" that offer zero support. We had to fold spare clothing we had in order to get any form of support to try and sleep.Throughout the night, and briefly in the morning, we unfortunately had to use the toilet which does not have enough room to comfortably do anything in, no means of drying hands if you don't take a towel in with you. We had originally planned on having a shower after the warm weather but when we looked at the shower room, which was also incredibly small, there was a distinctly off smell which could potentially be akin to mould, not to mention having to pay £3 for the rental of a towel. Thankfully we were only staying the night as otherwise this would have been a major issue.During the night we barely slept due to an uncomfortable bed and loud doors slamming. Before we could try "settling" for the night we had a look online and can agree with everyone else that this is somewhere we definitely would never stay again or ever recommend regardless of the price. They list themselves as a "student accommodation" but I would argue that they have less to offer than hostels around the city despite charging almost twice as much. The photos online are also very misleading - show the photos of the dank, dark corridors within the flats, for example! If we could've gotten a refund we definitely would've jumped at the idea and paid a little more for elsewhere. If you're on a budget I'd recommend going to an actual hostel over these "student" accomodations.

I was happy as I just wanted a central location in a nice part of the city - a comfortable & clean place to stay.Pros: Great location, lovely spacious room (I really liked the bed design by the window, it was cosy and comfortable and quite roomy), hairdryer, earplugs, washing up liquid (i.e. dish soap), shampoo & shower gel provided automatically or on request, depending on item, kitchen fully equipped except for tea towels, staff generally helpful and nice. Room clean on arrival; I did message ahead to ensure that it be properly clean for me, having seen some reviews mention grubby rooms.Cons: pillows very flat and only one provided per person, no net curtain or similar on window on ground floor, which is inconvenient as blind must be closed while dressing and so on, very loud doors closing regularly throughout the building, can hear noise from room above, no bath mat or hand soap in bathroom, towels £3 each to borrow to use during visit, room only cleaned once a week on request (if you're there more than a week, I mean), room gets hot on warm days and fans require a deposit. No lift to upper levels. Bring a permanent marker to label your food in the fridge.I would stay here again as it's affordable compared to hotels and in a great spot. It was fine for my needs. Improvements like hand soap, better pillows, etc, as mentioned above, would be great. And the loud doors are a mystery, God help the students living there for term time! Terrible design.

Good price for Edinburgh Fringe! That's about the only nice thing I have to say about it.The place was truly filthy. It was obvious that our room wasn't swept since the last people who stayed. The bathrooms were disgusting. There was no garbage can in the bathroom so someone left a huge wad of hair wherever they pleased. The sink looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. It's loud - every time someone closes their door, it sounds like your own door is slamming. The cleaning crew left garbage in the hallway. The staff were not approachable or friendly, so we didn't feel we could bring the cleaning issues to their attention.I've stayed in many hostels and student accommodations and this was the worst by far.

quite possibly the worst stay experience for the price I have encountered in 2 decades of travelling. Don't let the pictures fool you. You are paying to stay in a prison cell, with no ventilation, the smell of mould and body odour permeating through the whole "house". This is so close to being a human rights violation. It is bind boggling that the UK gets away with abhorrent accommodation like this and that it's living prices are so sickeningly high, that students are forced to stay in these kinds of prison cells. no wonder the student suicide rates are so high. if I was a student with all the pressures and then had to find myself in a place like this, I would not be able to imagine my life would amount to anything.
