It was so good we can't wait to be back. The hotel is beautiful, elegant, clean and quiet. We had a large room, and it was lovely, cosy and quiet, a great place to go back after a day of exploring the city. …

I spent two nights at the Sandman Aberdeen and despite the beautiful building and interiors and the fantastic location (for someone who knows Aberdeen at least), I have to be honest and say that I left very disappointed.I checked in and realised that a number of the lights in the room and the blackout blinds didn’t work, there was also a really bad smell coming from the bathroom that suggested that the person doing the cleaning doesn’t understand how the type of shower works. I asked for help with this and when the person came up to the room they concurred that the lights and the blackout blinds didn't work, although they said that they couldn't smell anything coming from the bath, but they very kindly agreed to move me to a different room. Immediately upon entering I pointed out that the LED bathroom light in the bathroom didn't work but said that I could manage until the following morning, for disability reasons I was unable to cope with the full lighting in the bathroom and therefore required a smaller light, I was assured that maintenance would come and look at it the following morning and I agreed that that was fine.I had a pleasant evening in the room call, the fittings in the room were lovely and overall, it felt comfy. I would say that where you are putting a microwave in a room, utensils, and perhaps a fork might be nice and very considerate but I do understand that that may be an impractical from a customer service perspective.I never move TV's that are on a wall I'm always scared that they will fall down, and I didn't think anything of the fact that the one in the room was on standby, however this turned itself on about 2:00 AM something it did a few times over the next few hours. On my way to breakfast on the 1st morning I stopped by reception I said that I believed that maintenance were coming to look at the LED light and could you also please look at the TV since because of my health condition this has been really quite ill as a consequence, and I was assured this would happen. The long and short is that after asking three times if maintenance would come to the room, in addition to asking if the sofa bed could be made up for my friend who was joining me, when I went out (before 10AM) I put the service room sign on and went out. No one came to do the room until 3:30PM, at that time, we were in the room so we went down and sat in the lobby but that was awkward as it felt that we were in the way as there was a wedding and hotel guests couldn’t even enter or leave the hotel without someone saying something as the photographer was trying to do photos. When we returned to the room, the sofa bed had been made-up but otherwise if I hadn’t known better I wouldn't have known the room had been touched, I have never seen housekeeping do such a sloppy job and I have stayed in so many hotels in my life. I then asked again if maintenance were coming and was told that there wasn’t anyone who could.I was unable to use the spa as it was fully booked but it is worth noting, as the hotel website doesn't make this very clear, that there is exceptionally limited capacity and that it is chargeable over and above what you pay for the hotel, I guess I’ll never know as i didn't get to go.It's a real shame that obviously no one goes round the rooms to check that everything is functional which I would expect at this level of hotel and there was more than just one lamp not working in my room, the blackout blinds while functional were significantly damaged and it gives the air that management and the company simply don't care; they want the money that customers are bringing without doing anything to warrant that money. I had been really looking forward to my stay here, as I say it has a lot going for it but there is a chaotic feel which staff give guests and I doubt it's going to last because right now I don't know if I would return which is really disappointing.

My small room had some nice features like comfortable chairs, but also just the bare essentials. Although their website says each room has a microwave, refrigerator and safe, mine had none of these. …

Nice hotel, staff are friendly and helpful. Great night sleep! If I could mark it 4.5 out of 5 I would, but minor issues I had, I can’t priced 5 out of 5. Issues were it took 25min to settle a bill in the hotel restaurant after asking & my room didn’t have any hand wash or body wash when I checked in so had to ask at reception, it was happily provided but would have thought it should be checked when servicing the rooms.

We stayed here for a girly weekend for my friends birthday. They couldn't have done enough for us! The staff were so friendly and helpful. They kept our bags for us while we were at the spa until it was time to check in. The girls in the spa were really nice we got to have prosecco in the relax room while we waited for our treatments! Good selection for breakfast and the room service food was great. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a quite large hotel. Our room was well-sized, the bathroom large and modern. It has a hot water pot with an assortment of teas and coffees and free biscuits. It is located in central Aberdeen, so much of what you might want to visit is within easy walking distance. Recommended.
