So we had booked to come up for the Edinburgh Fringe and were due to stay up Haddington Place and we were then told we were being moved to Capitol Students Westfield which is a fair bit further away from the centre, uping our travel costs. We didn’t have a choice in the matter and were told that the room we were being moved to was worth more than our room that we had booked which was untrue and the person I spoke to on the phone couldn’t tell me what this ‘upgrade’ was. The staff when we got there were in fact very kind and friendly which made our stay pleasant. We also could barely walk around one side of the bed so I don’t know how it was supposed to be a bigger room than the one we booked.

Highly recommend staying at this property. I found it through air b&b and it was very clean and affordable. Student vibes. Shared common spaces but private rooms and bathrooms. Great if you’re just needing a place to rest your head. Enjoyed using their gym.

Amazing Rooms for the price. Location is decent, tram stop outside and plenty of bus connections. (Straight to the Airport). Staff on site are very helpful. Rooms were clean. Yes its student accommodation transformed into a hotel for the summer. However, that doesn't retract from the value for money! (Given the standard prices in Edinburgh this time of year).

Clean, good location. Small rooms with an absolutely tiny bathroom and no amenities in the room such as a kettle, tea, coffee. The window didn't close and the blinds where broken. Incredibly noisy all night on the main road over the weekend.

Very basic accommodation, and definitely not worth it for the high price. Very basic facilities, broken lifts, noise, no cleaning, various other things broken. Staff friendly and do what they can but very basic student style accommodation that doesn’t seem to care as it’s just trying to cash in by having slightly lower extortionate prices than the rest of Edinburgh.

Had a wonderful stay at the joivy affordable edinburgh on mcdonald road at the end of july/beginning of August. After a later than expected check in I was greeted by friendly staff who were most welcoming and understanding. With a small hiccup with the shower; the issue was resolved promptly and I was pleasantly reassured by their "nothing is too much trouble" approach. All through service with a smile.An excellent location right outside the mcdonald road tram stop (perfect for getting to and from the airport in 45 mins and Royal Yacht Britania in 20 mins). A short walk away is Calton hill wish has a perfect view of the city on one side and spectacular side view of Arthur's Seat too.Wouldn definitely visit them and reccomend them for solo travellers and friends that want an affordable stay that's a stones through from the city centre.

The rooms are like beeing in a sauna and there is no air. People in reseption makes everything seem like a bother for them. I slept there for 3 days, probably got 4 hours of sleep.

Stayed here for three days with friends. Got no rest or sleep. Worst stay we have done. No service, loud and extremely warm with no ventilation. Extremely expensive for the quality.

Great affordable and central location in Edinburgh.Buyer beware. It's a student apartment, not a hotel. There is no TV (this matters to some folks) and the shower is tiny but functional. You do get a fridge and cooking facilities if that's important to you.You get a small double bed which won't suit some people. But for the price this is a great option for proximity to the centre.
