After riding on an overnight train from London, we were restricted from checking in to our reserved room until 3pm.After multiple attempts to make contact we did finally speak with a gentleman who re-affirmed the hard line of 3 pm.Exhausted, we waited until the allowed time. No person was present to greet us. We stood in the rain reading through multiple instructions on email for gaining entrance to the premises.Upon gaining entrance we found the box that housed our key.My daughter, my son in law, and myself found that our room was on the third floor with no available Lift.Narrow, curving stairs that fail to offer enough of a ledge for your feet, much less a safe footing and hauling a suitcase and trying to hold onto a stair handrail. Impossible and very dangerous. We reached our room breathless but found the room to be tidy.Having been on an overnight train and forced to bide our time all day- we all anticipated a relaxing shower. We found the bathroom to be extremely small, the shower space is reminiscent of a Recreational Vehicle. Even the ceiling is of such quality. The shower did not drain properly, it had black mold growing in the corner, and as the dismal shower experience concluded, either condensation or a leaky pipe began a pitter patter on the small metal rubbish container beneath the sink.Wanting to quickly exit the extremely cramped and small space- I grabbed the sad little towel left me rolled on the bed. This towel- is of a caliber that I toss from the shoprag bin after it has been tossed from the linen closet.ungh!!!!!The bed is firm, there are (what appear to be good eating locations nearby) and the smell of the premises is not offensive.Even so- I would NOT recommend this place for a vacation and I only hope my few days here before traveling on to Ireland are better than my introduction to my sleeping quarters.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. We were in Edinburgh celebrating our anniversary, the hotel was only a short walk from old town but if wanted there are regular buses into the city centre just outside the hotel. …

Faultless. I booked for one night, but extended for another. Very friendly helpful staff. Had a lovely room, very very comfy bed, I didn’t want to get out it in morning, but had to as I needed breakfast. …

My other half and I had a short stay in Edinburgh and this hotel was perfect for us! Close to the city center, free parking outside the hotel, bus stop right across the street. The room was beautiful and very clean and breakfast was amazing! Would definitely recommend.

I stayed two nights here and could not have happened upon a more quality place. It seems like a family run place and the owners and staff could not have been more friendly and extra mile style helpful. The room was large and professionally finished. The breakfast was good and the service was great.

Location is good, in a quiet area of the City, about 10mins walk from the Castle, with good bus links. The room was spacious, and clean & tidy. The breakfast was great, plenty to choose from including a cooked breakfast to your own requirements if you liked! Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The room we got was really small, almost cramped. The bathroom shower was excellent but the stall was really tiny. I really wonder if a larger person would have been able to use it comfortably. I also saw that the bathroom door had a strip of wood sticking out. The bed wasn't very comfortable; it felt like a cheap spring mattress where your partner's slightest movement wakes you up. The walls are quite thin, so you may hear conversation from the room next door. I wouldn't like to stay here again.
