I have always been a big fan of the Tudor and the old Elizabethan bar next door. From the Age of 18 I was frequently in both and the atmosphere remains great! Both of my parents loved the place and both had their funeral gatherings there as they were well known. I was in the UK recently and paid a visit to find it was still the same warm welcome and same high level of personal service and I must admit it brought a tear to my eye when I recall all of the Christmas days there from years gone by. Congratulations to the staff and managers and owner as it's an iconic location in my life. The food was fantastic yet again and looking out of the windows I could see the snow falling all those years ago. Thanks for a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Harry's bar. Lovely bar. But the back ground music isn't background. It's in your face too loud. And some of the music is very very heavy. This is ok for a specific function. If that's what you want? But for an average Friday night? Nope. We wont venture back unless that's sorted. Otherwise the hotel is lovely.

We stayed here for one night as my husband's extended family live in the area and he hadn't met them before. There is a bar that opens at 3 pm, and there is a bistro for ,meals. A short walk to the main town. Our room was comfortable and clean. Cooked breakfast was very tasty.

First visit, not overly impressed. Myself and my husband ordered off the set menu that was on the tables, waitress came back 5 minutes later and said that menu finished at 3pm (we arrived 4.30pm). Why was it on the tables then? £2.95 for a can of diet coke, total rip off. Food was average, curry sauce very bland.

Perhaps one of the worst experiences I've had for lunch. Visited yesterday. It was to be an anniversary lunch. We were warmly greeted and showed to a table, and that was where it started to go wrong. One waitress took our drinks order, but the wrong drink was brought for me by another. They sorted that.Meal order taken, and then we waited for a bit. Long enough for a waitress to ask if we wanted our bill as she obviously thought we had been sitting for a period after finishing our meal.Eventually, the meal was delivered, and the waitress disappeared.Wrong dish for me but correct for my wife. I had asked for the chicken and vegetable pakora, poppadoms, and spicy oinions. I think what I received was chicken pakora and a side salad.3 pieces of horrendously overcooked pakora.Eventually, I found a waitress and asked what she thought I had ordered, and the reply was chicken pakora. When I said it was something different, another waitress came forward and joined the conversation. She did offer to replace the dish with another, but by this time, my wife was over halfway through her meal. That was how long it took to get to this stage. So faced with waiting over another 20 minutes ( based on how long we had waited initially), I said no way. And was offered the option for not being charged for what had been delivered. I opted for this simply to just get finished and out of there. On leaving, I commented to the waitress that she should inform the chef that the chicken pakora was so overcooked that it was inedible. I doubt if that message would have been passed on.It had been over 15 years since I last dined here, and I don't think I'll ever be back.
