We stayed here for a weekend as we got married and didn't want to travel to far. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were amazing. My husband dropped our belongings off earlier in the day and when the staff found out it was our wedding day they upgraded our room free of charge. When we arrived in the night there was a plate with fruit and chocolates on and written in chocolate sauce "congratulations." This was such a lovely touch. The room was lovely, the bed was very large and extremely comfortable. The facilities in the room were amazing. We went to the hotel pool and hot tub which again was lovely.I would recommend this hotel and would definitely visit again.

Positives:The staff were very pleasant and happy to answer questions. A lovely looking venue. Dinner was very tasty, best thing about my stay! Conveniently located for my business trip.Negatives:I'm very surprised that The Copthorne is considered a 4-Star Hotel. The room I stayed in was dusty (surfaces, lamps, mirrors, TV, remote, telephone, curtains, windows, chair, cupboard), and there were streaks left on the surfaces which were quickly wiped down for the next guest (me). The desk and table were sticky in places, so I wiped everything down with anti-bacteria wipes. There were two towels in the bathroom which did not seem to be clean, and the previous guests soap was still found beside the shower. One of the bulbs above the sink would constantly flicker.Breakfast was fine, nothing special, was acceptable, but the juice that is served is very watered-down, and the coffee that was served was possibly the worst I have ever tasted. The water tasted like it had been over-boiled in a burnt pot.Not a bad place overall, but not what I was expecting, or should have accepted.

Sadly I must say that I regret staying here. Admittedly I knew there was no air conditioning before booking but the temperature in the rooms on the 5th floor was more than the temperature outside, and it was over 20c outside at night. Sleeping was impossible, even with a fan. The rooms were poorly lit, old fashioned lamps everywhere but none that bright, and the rooms themselves were very dated. Beds were OK. TV was huge which was a bonus. Tea and coffee facilities were OK. Room space was average. View was not good, but you can opt for a better view if you want to pay more. There was a mini fridge which was good and this worked pretty well for a small fridge. Bathroom was tired looking, and it was impossible to get cold water from the sink, so if you for example wanted to splash cold water in your face you had to use the bath. Shower was good, powerful and worked well. They provided some small soaps and very little shampoo bottles but when I asked for more on two occasions they had none, which seemed odd to me. Staff were polite but not as good as other hotels, I got the impression the staff were unhappy the whole time, they just gave that vibe, so us asking them for anything was just annoying them, for example if you have no soap say sorry, don't just say we don't have any and leave me there wondering what I can do next. Parking was good. Would not stay here again.

Recently had a 3 day breakaway to attend my best friends wedding. Had a truly lovely stay.Staff very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely. OK, decor a bit dated, but you know what, the blackout curtains did what they should. The bed was sooooo comfy we didn't wanna get up! And the shower was awsome!Following all the guidelines must be so much to do, but they seem to have it all covered! From staff wearing masks etc, to plenty of antibacterial wash available everywhere. The restaurant team handling the social distancing really well too, making sure the 2m rule is applied. The wedding reception was held at the hotel too. Following all the guidelines n restrictions currently in place. Again, attentive n friendly staff happy to serve n help where needed. We really felt the team pulled put all the stops to make the day as perfect as is could be.We will definitely be coming again soon!!

Seen loads of comments about the hotel needing updates etc. Well I think it was lovely, yes a bit dated but thought it adds character. Everything was clean bathroom was lovely. My little boy was in his element there watching the fish and bat's by the lake. Very lovely and polite staff.

Attended a wedding for the whole day. Ceremony was lovely and pretty! The sit down meal was great with soup starters, chicken dinner mains and a cheesecake for dessert. It was lovely with champagne for the toasts and wine on the table. The evening buffet was nice too. Great day over all.

Everything was good for our overnight stay. Staff were efficient and amenable. Room was clean and comfortable, and the TV was great for watching the football. Sadly we left it too late to book a table so we could watch the England match in the bar, but we survived!Breakfast was fine. Continental a little basic, but I'm guessing with covid restrictions, the fact everything had to wrapped or in containers, put paid to having a more aesthetically pleasing spread, if you're bothered by that. The cooked breakfast was great.

The hotel is located at an extremely noisy intersection which means that you don't get any sleep with traffic and sirens going past. The rooms are not air conditioned so the windows are left open for fresh air esp in the summer. The rooms are spacious though extremely dated. If watching TV, you will only be able to watch terrestrial channels. I found the lack of electric sockets to be extremely inconvenient. I had to pull out the plug to my bedside lamp so I could charge my phone. There was only one more plug point available on the other side of the room which was already being used for a fan.The swimming pool and gym were closed so can't comment on those. The food in the restaurant is okay but having a menu for people who have intolerances or allergies would be helpful. As a positive, the staff were pleasant and helpful which makes a lot of difference to one's stay. The breakfast buffet serves a great cooked breakfast, but if you are a vegetarian or have a wheat allergy, there isn't much you could eat except mushrooms and tomatoes.

Hotel was good, rooms very dated and in need new carpets. Our room carpet was threadbare in places in the bar the carpet was help down with tape. Just need some investment. Room was great size but really really hot even with no heating on. No air con which would have been great. Breakfast was amazing. Staff were great friendly and efficient and food quality was one of the best in hotels I have had. The bar was OK. Run out of lots of drinks options and service was slow and understaffed due to covid restrictions so we understand. Staff were all great and friendly
