From the lack of service (confusing messages, extra charges without reasonable justification) to the smell (of food, vomit and old carpet), this hotel doesn't actually deserve a star. The rooms are old, not cleaned thoroughly and not functional (toilet flush broken, faucet drips, air conditioning doesn't work) - and this applies to 5 out of 5 people.When asked, there is either no response or an unfriendly response, and it is not possible to leave a review on Booking as the hotel blocks it (which suggests that the existing reviews are not true).The hotel is located in a godforsaken place that is full of sadness and where there is absolutely nothing to see. In contrast to the rest of Wales' beauty, Port Talbot and this hotel in particular seem like a gray spot that has simply been forgotten.I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

A nice location by the beach, big car park, nice room and nice bathroom, helpful staff, decent common areas. Reasonable value for money. Good wi-fi. Outside looks dated but inside is fine. Food is good, good breakfast, decent dinner menu. Quiet room.

My wife and I got married in August 2024, and as part of the celebrations, we had one element of our wedding ceremonies in the Best Western ballroom. As it happened, we also had family fly in from all over the world and they stayed in the hotel - taking up all 68 rooms.The Best Western hotel staff were absolutely flawless. Shaun, Claire, Conner, Martina, and their entire team.From constant communication with us, to putting out fires regarding booking, to responding to our emails and calls with no delay, to being incredibly professional, welcoming and warm with all the guests on arrival to being flexible with all our requests. It really is an understatement to say thank you.Down to the housekeeping staff who were amazing at turning the rooms round for our guests to ensure early check ins were possible, to ensuring that ironing boards were on hand for all guests across the floors of the hotel, to helping with the cleaning and clearing up from the ballroom, to the bar staff who chilled all our drinks and served it for us.To the kitchen staff, who put out delicious breakfasts every morning, allowed us to keep our wedding cake in the walk in fridge, accommodated our external caterers, and so much more.There was not a single complaint. We are blown away by the expert level of service.You would be so wrong to think that the Best Western Aberavon Beach hotel is only a humble hotel on the beachfront of a south welsh coastal town. It is much more than that.It is an expertly located hotel, with professionalism, and service that rivals (and arguably surpasses) many hotels all across the world. Comparing what was delivered to us, and what we paid, it was also an absolute steal!On behalf of our families, we would like to say thank you to the Best Western Aberavon Beach hotel.And to anyone reading this review, if you are in Port Talbot, and need a stay, look no further than Best Western Aberavon Beach hotel. Hotel looks awful from outside but very nice inside. Staff were amazing. Breakfast was good. Rooms clean. Pool was out of order which was a shame. Would have been good to know that before booking. Lovely beach a stone throw away. Great value for money.

This is my first time visiting your hotel.The building external is a bit old but the facility is lovely, my room with sea view was amazing cleaned and big. Breakfast was very good. Friendly staff. There's a big parking. I highly recommend it and I will go there again..

This hotel is about 50 minutes from our home in the valleys and we went for a 3 day bank holiday break. First of all, this is a very old hotel from 1973 so don't expect the Ritz. However Best Western are making a good effort to bring it up to a good standard. The rooms were very clean, not a sign of mildew in the bathroom that even more modern hotels suffer with. Considering it is a child and dog friendly hotel, it was very quiet. There was a good TV in the room, along with a kettle, bottled water and a welcome pack consisting of 2 packs of maltesers and a couple of mint chocolates. There was also a nice personalised welcome letter. For when the room gets warm, there was a fan that came in very useful. Food was very good. The bar is well supplied and ice was given when requested to take to the room. Staff were very friendly and polite. There is not a daily room cleaning service, however if you require clean towels they are provided daily although the room was supplied with plenty. If you require a bedding change, a simple request at reception and it will be done. The parking is free during your stay, they also have 2 car charging points but I'm not sure of the cost of these. It is located just across the road from the sea front and is close to the cinema, leisure centre and other restaurants and pubs. Around the corner are some takeaways including a Chinese and a fish and chip shop. There is also a spar all within 3 minutes walk of the hotel. There is a RNLI station along with a shop so you can support them by buying gifts. There are also some parks for the children close by. All in all it was a great stay and we look forward to going again and seeing the hotel after it upgrade.

Very outdated old looking hotel.My husband paid for a full Seaview room but were not given one we overlooked the roof of the hotel instead.The breakfast was rushed because the chef was late turning up for work.It was not appetising at all.One of the restaurant staff was coughing all over the place which is pretty awful.On our stay there was a room which was being cleaned and dirty laundry had been laying on the floor for a whole day.We were not happy with the whole visit so we left early, upon leaving my husband told the reception staff about paying extra for a full see view and didn't seem that concerned at all.Would never go back again to this place.
