Basically a lovely cottage - perfect for two people to explore Skye. The living room and bedroom are well furnished. However, the kitchen and bathroom are unfortunately past their best - the mouldy areas in particular should be taken care of.

A lovely few days stay at the Crofters House which is a cosy hideaway just above a quiet bay. We saw seals in the shallow waters of the bay everyday which was really magical. The house itself is perfect for two and considering it's winter it heated up super quick, especially with the fire. The location is really central to the island so you can reach all the main sites within about 30 mins and supermarket in Portree 5 mins away. It's a lovely place to explore Skye from and to come back to in the evenings and get cosy.

This place is just delightful … we were extremely lucky to grab 3 nights here in what was an already busy booking period due to relaxation of Covid rules and the rush for ‘staycations’.Normally when we’re away, we minimise the time we spend indoors and try to maximise our time exploring; unfortunately when we arrived at The Crofters House the weather was atrocious but we certainly didn’t feel like we were wasting our time spending hours here … in fact we cancelled our dinner reservation in Portree one night in favour of eating in as the house is such a cosy and inviting space. The kitchen has a great range of pots, pans and utensils, everything you need for a full roast dinner or anything else you fancy making. In the outhouse, there’s a washing machine and tumble dryer. Pretty much everything you need is in this house, almost a home from home. There’s also a great range of cleaning supplies, however, be advised you’ll need to bring your own tea, coffee, milk etc as this is not supplied. Also, bring a bag of logs and treat yourself to using the toasty log burner. We live in what we thought was a quiet village, but this place really is quiet. Open the Velux in the bedroom at night and enjoy not only really fresh air but the sound of owls, and awake to the sound of bird song and sheep (the nearest you get to rush hour here is a passing sheep and it’s lambs) … a countryside lovers dream indeed! If you can, you really should book this place now.

We were incredibly lucky to snap up a cancellation over the August bank holiday weekend after seeing the cottage booked up to November, and we can totally understand why. The original crofter's cottage has been renovated to an extremely high standard. Exuding Scandi minimalism, yet nailing cosy romantic hideaway; the cottage was the perfect place to start our Scottish roadtrip.Sarah was a dream to deal with - always responding via email promptly, and offering nuggets of intel for things to do whilst on Skye, and ideas for us for the rest of our road trip. One such recommendation for food that Sarah recommends on the cottage website was Edinbane Lodge. We visited on our last night on Skye and had the incredible taster menu - all locally reared/foraged produce and extremely friendly staff, we would highly recommend! Our booking came not long after the Covid lockdown measures had been relaxed and we were free to visit. Sarah had taken the measures seriously and made all the necessary modifications. Whilst it meant some of the soft furnishings and aesthetic details had been removed from the property for ease of cleaning, it was a comfort to know we were being kept safe and that travel and visiting this incredible island was now possible. Some of our highlights on the island were exploring the Trotternish Peninsula and Talisker Bay Beach areas by bike and they were the most incredible routes and views. It was an absolute delight to come home afterwards, pick up some fish and chips in Portree (about 10mins away), sit and eat them on Tianavaig bay outside the cottage (basically our own beach!) and then retire to the cottage, get the log burner on and cosy on down! Perfection! We did not want to leave, but we will certainly be back - thanks Sarah!!

We stayed at the Crofters House for 3 nights after the Covid lock down.Location is great in Camastianavaig just south of Portree. There is a short walk from the house to the bay where there is a table and bench to sit at and just take in the view and the silence. We spent a few hours there each day early in the morning having breakfast which we took down there and evening with our drinks. The house itself is small but adequate for 2 and also has a washing machine and dryer in an outhouse which is very handy after a few days of walking. The things we didn't like about the house were the kitchen which was well used and being a wooden top was stained around the taps as you would expect but is quite unsightly. The bed springs had definitely seen better days and really is/was very springy. After a long days walking you couldn't help but fall asleep but the bed really could be more comfortable. The dryer was impossible to open until I noticed a screw driver on the work top above it and was able to lever it open. Obviously there strategically placed for a purpose. This might seem harsh and maybe the crofters house is due for a refurbish, but it did let the place down.If you are only interested in location then that's just 5star.

The Crofters House is such a hidden gem - don't let the single track roads & rouge sheep deter you! We visited at the end of winter and somehow had amazingly good weather?! We spotted seals in the bay & eagles in the cliffs. The space is so cosy & welcoming, you'll never want to leave <3 Thanks again Sarah!

A great self catering cottage for someone who wants to unwind. Set in a beautiful little neighborhood, just a short walk from a little sea cove. The area is so peaceful and quiet, all you hear are the sheep that wander past the cottage throughout the day. It's only about a 15 minute drive into Portree, where you can find all the supplies you need for your stay. Highly recommended!
