We stayed here as a family weekend of 19/20 October. It seems there has been a change in ownership management recently and the new people are settling in.Rooms: first glance look great, but lots of little niggles which just needs looking into. Suspect they are problems which just didn't get dealt with by previous management. However, warm, cosy and comfortable.Food: we only had breakfast. First day was excellent. Great quick service and quality food.Second morning not so efficient. However, not fault of staff/owner. There was an absence in kitchen, so only one person for cooking and serving. People in our party offered help, and it was graciously accepted, turning a problem into an experience instead. A lot of people would turn down help out of 'ego', so accepting help is the mark of person without ego.Service: great customer service. From arrival, to adapting some room allocation, to breakfast the team were attentive, proactive, respectful, funny and kind.Overall, yep a few niggles but not all the fault of new owners. Yep, I'd go back.

Went here for a meal with my wife and was looking forward to it given the reviews. However, the service is way below par, we ordered a bottle of wine and it was just plonked on the table - not even opened - and the food is ‘meh’ at best (the best part was the bread and butter). We ordered the lamb and it was very tough (it offered me outside for a fight twice, that’s how tough it was!).It’s a shame because it’s in a lovely area but for £92 for a bottle of wine and 2 main courses (plus a few bits of bread) I would expect much better.

Poor AVOID - listed as 3 star, the rooms are 2 star at best.Overpriced.- TV not working - it was an aerial TV bodged into a satellite socket in the wall - no wonder it didn't pick up any stations. Needs a satellite box at least.- Shower poor & falling apart, handle falling off, door tracks broken, duct tape holding up parts, floor felt like it would give way if you stood in the wrong spot.- Electrics to the room kettle highly dodgy, bare outer insulation on the extension strip.- Wind whistling through the corridor from a missing ceiling / loft access hatch.Find some where else IMHO - this place is ok on the surface, but the rooms are rough and breakfast no better!VERY poor value for money, with, in hindsight, too many 10 out of 10 reviews from anonymous posters. :(Booking.com not taking more reservations - I guess thats to stop the bad reviews?(Stayed tail end of September)

Went for Sunday lunch very disappointing. We had been many times in the past and thought the food and service was excellent, cannot say that now. Don't think we will go back unless it improves.
