Went for a birthday meal food was lovely. Everything tasted fresh and was served nicely. Full of dickens pictures on walls. Landlady was very friendly and not intrusive to us at all. We hadn't been before and went on a recommendation of a friend. Will return for a Sunday lunch

Wonderfully atmospheric Dickensian hostelry, with reasonably priced, good food, great drinks range, efficient and very friendly service, a varied and fun programme of various events, and a pleasant mix of visitors, tourists and locals. A credit to the excellent landlady and highly recommended.

My husband and I are on our 5th of 6 nights staying at this remarkable historic landmark Inn. Keeping in mind that it's 400+ years old (amazing!!) you can't expect luxurious accommodations. However, it's more than adequate for what you might expect. Clean, spacious, great housekeeping service, and best of all - huge delicious breakfast included in the room charge. Staff are friendly and always around for help. Ubers pick us up within 5 minutes of ordering rides. There's a wonderful community owned shop a few steps down the road with everything you might need. It's a gorgeous town. I highly recommend staying at the Leather Bottle. We chose it for the Dickens history but even without that (fascinating stuff!!) we would love this place and stay again.

I visited today for lunch and was served by a member of staff at the bar who initially seemed quite helpful with finding a dish that suited my allergy. I explained that it’s really difficult eating out with a dairy allergy and was hoping to eat something with meat or fish instead of vegan which I usually have to do. After placing my order and going outside, I popped back in to use the loo but heard the same waitress moaning about me ‘not wanting a vegan dish’ to the chefs in quite a derogatory tone but ran off when she saw me. Again, when I came out the toilet she was doing the same, talking about me ‘wanting scampi’ through the chef hatch and then ran off again. I went and spoke to the waitress who seemed very uncomfortable and reassured me that I heard wrongly but then did apologise when I repeated what I’d heard. I don’t usually post bad reviews but anyone who has an allergy knows how much of a burden you feel when you eat out, but to hear me clearly being spoken about TWICE isn’t necessary or nice. Luckily, I was 1 person out of 4 who enjoyed my food otherwise it would’ve been a 1 star. I usually have good experiences here but I won’t be returning soon.

I Had the roast I was not impressed for what you got for the price. Veg rock hard / Yorkshire burnt / chicken leg small / potato's 3 halfs and as for the stuffing only god knows what that was overall very poor in my opinion but feel free to try for yourself. . Never going there again. I'l bel sticking to toby carvery from now on .

I just had a mix grill here at the leather bottle cobham, It was a special for just the evening, and it was great. The food was cooked to my liking, at a very reasonable price and plenty of it too. Many thanks to Stuart, Georgia who cooked it, and also to Chloe, and verity for such lovely service as usual with plenty of smiles too.Mick.

The menu looks interesting and appetising, but we were all sadly disappointed. If you're in the area or staying at the hotel, The Green Man or Cricketers are far better for food.
