A lovely experience. The food was gorgeous and the staff super friendly. They provided us a lunch bag for early checkout. The rooms are small, but clean and cozy. Would totally recommend. The location is beautiful well coneccted to the city centre and good for having a walk.

Rooms look like they’ve recently been refurbished, lovely decor and cosy rooms. Coffee machine and lovely shower. Free parking although it’s limited so a bit difficult in a large car, there’s other parking nearby though. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and the pub is really pleasant for an evening tipple. Bed comfy although slightly small and room 1 was very noisy (potentially from kitchen dishwasher below). Other than that, ideal stay and would recommend!

Pub, Restaurant and Breakfast has been good. And the services were friendly and nice as we had Shona serving us a good traditional english breakfast. Rooms small, ok for one night. Mattress was allright for one night stay. It was just the refrigerating, cooling system outside in front of our room window which made too much noise the whole night having a really worse sleep unfortunately.

I stay in Royal Oak because my family lives near here. It's a lovely local with fabulous rooms well looked after. The breakfast is great too anything you like and nothing is too much bother for them. Even have a dulce gusto coffee machine in my room, TV, WiFi, toiletries and, though it's above a pub, no noise from pub. World class service would recommend for work too. I didn't take pictures because the pictures are the same as on their website. Keep this one in mind.

Good honest home cooked food, but not just your 'Hunters Chicken' type menu, they do a Liver and Bacon which is awesome! The decor has been refreshed in the last couple of years and the staff are lovely. There really is no complaints about the Royal Oak. We visit there for the quiz nights mostly, and love the place.EDIT: We were down there again tonight for the quiz. I had the steak and kidney pie and mash and peas. Damn, it's all so good. Perfect light crumbly pastry, juicy filling with a perfect balance of ingredients, with just the right amount of gravy inside and out. The mash is rustic and buttery. Price is on point too. Add a few pints and several rounds of quiz questions and it's all perfection. The Royal Oak is the place to visit.EDIT: The Royal Oak is a great place and we're still regulars! Try the Steak and Kidney pudding with mash.. Still my fave.EDIT: Heidi, the manager is the perfect host, she couldn't be more obliging and attentive.
