A beautiful old building, well located, with friendly helpful staff, and our room was generous, comfortable, and cheap! Also, the staircase is spectacular, with a stained glass window, and the bar on the ground floor is characterful, with orignial wood work, high ceiling, etc. LoopOnly gripes are that the electric fan and lamp in the room didn't work, but I'm sure the staff would've sorted it out if we'd bothered to ask. Overall an amazing building and great value!

Greene King pub. They were out of 2 or 3 beers when we went on a Tuesday, after a busy weekend apparently. Food was average at best, the katsu chicken curry tasted like a school dinner curry from the 70’s. Lots of student discounts available.

Paid a deposit to reserve a table for the Euros. Staff need to be trained to know the normal policy of giving deposits back to customers and not try to fob them off with “Greene King are not giving customers their deposits back today because it’s a busy game day” which is an absolutely embarrassing response.

I can’t comment on the rooms as we weren’t staying however, the beers were flat, the food was awful and the staff were moody. Such a shame as the location is lovely

My son had to attend a meeting for work last Wednesday night with his colleague so they booked two rooms. It was a four hour journey and when they arrived at the hotel at12.30 am they were told that they could not check in as they were too late. The woman on the phone told them to come back at 6.30am. They don’t know Bristol at all and struggled to find another two rooms. Luckily they found another hotel but it cost 250.00 in total, not to mention the stress of thinking that they may have to miss an important meeting the following morning. This hotel in the city of Bristol did not state there was a curfew for check in otherwise they would not have booked it. The only thing it stated when booking was that check in was after 2pm and check out was before 11am. My son and his colleague were left stranded because of the disgusting customer service of this hotel. I will definitely be advising people to avoid Greene King at all costs. To treat two young lads trying to get a good nights sleep before a business meeting in this way is despicable. Shame on you..

Horrific! Firstly I had to wait to be checked in because staff were busy talking, I was the only person in reception and was told to wait until they had finished!!! The hotel is SO dated and dirty that I was repulsed! There was NO way I was going to risk eating and drinking in the bar! Further more I was kept awake! Even though I was staying in the very top floor the noise at night from the drinkers who had made their way outside was horrendous! The hotel staff made no effort to keep the noise down. Do or the £105 I paid for the one night this has left a very bitter pill to swallow!!In relation to your reply, the only thing I can see that you should do is give back some of my hard earned money!!
