We’d seen the bad reviews, but needed somewhere in the area for one night and treated it as an adventure. We were there early October 2024 and the new owners have had it a couple of months. …

Lovely building away from everything, we were greeted and really well looked after by proper gentleman named Sunny, who was kind and really made our stay, under NEW management, worth giving a go!

BE AWARE THIS PLACE IS SHUT. But they are still taking bookings. I phoned the local post office to confirm the Knowesgate Inn was closed and in a state of disrepair and has been for about 6 months. They are still advertising on booking.com and Oyo.com

I cannot comment on the actual hotel as they cancelled our booking at 7pm the night before we were due to stay, no explanation or alternative offered -1st time staying with OYO and definitely the last.

This 'hotel' has been closed for a month (at least) according to the man in the adjacent but unconnected petrol station. According to locals it was closed for many years, bought by new owners, possibly opened and then very soon closed again. It is (June '23) two steps up from derelict.
