Chestnut Stuffing Recipe

2 cups chestnuts

1 ½ cups butter

2 teaspoons poultry seasoning

2 (1 pound) loaves day-old bread, cubed

¼ cup milk
Cooking Instructions

Make shallow cuts in the chestnuts' skins using a sharp knife. Place them in a medium pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 25 minutes until tender. Drain, peel, and chop the chestnuts.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped chestnuts, onions, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 3 minutes until the onions are soft. Transfer to a medium-sized baking dish and combine with cubed bread.

In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour this mixture over the bread and chestnut combination.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crisp.
