Easy 4-Ingredient Hamburger Casserole
Ingredients List
-
8 ounces pasta
-
1 pound ground beef
-
salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder, to taste
-
10 ounces tomato soup, canned or homemade
-
8 to 10 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Cooking Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring it to a boil. Add pasta and let it return to a boil. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender but still firm, about 10 minutes. Drain the pasta, saving about 2 tablespoons of the cooking water.
In the meantime, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the ground beef, stirring often, until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Drain off any excess grease.
Transfer the cooked beef into a large round casserole dish. Layer the pasta on top, then sprinkle with half the cheese. Pour the tomato soup over the top, adding the reserved pasta water. Stir everything together well. Cover the dish with foil.
Bake in the preheated oven, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
Turn on the oven’s broiler and set the rack 6 inches from the heat source. Broil the casserole until the cheese is golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve hot.
Chef’s Tips
This recipe is incredibly versatile. Feel free to add as much cheese as you like and adjust the cooking time to your preference. My husband loved it so much he had two large servings and claimed it was one of the best beef casseroles he’d ever tasted. Enjoy!
