Slow Cooker Tender Roast Beef

1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix

3 pounds beef chuck roast

2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
In a slow cooker, whisk together soy sauce and soup mix until fully blended. Add the chuck roast to the cooker, then pour in enough water to cover everything but the top 1/2 inch of the roast. Sprinkle ground pepper on top. Cover and cook on Low for about 22 hours, until the meat is fork-tender.
