3 methods to achieve Hyatt Globalist status
Hyatt Globalist status ranks among the top hotel elite statuses available. Many travelers, myself included, consider it the very best. While my husband and I hold high-tier elite statuses across various hotel loyalty programs, we always prioritize requalifying for Hyatt Globalist each year.
Earning World of Hyatt Globalist status is challenging, as it requires either 60 tier-qualifying nights or 100,000 base points within a calendar year. There aren't many shortcuts to attain Hyatt Globalist status, but you’ll secure lifetime Globalist status after earning 1,000,000 lifetime base points. Keep in mind, accumulating 1,000,000 lifetime base points demands roughly $200,000 in spending with Hyatt.
Explore our guide on Hyatt Globalist status to find out why numerous travelers cherish having the highest World of Hyatt elite status. In this guide, I will outline three key methods to obtain Hyatt Globalist status.
Tier-qualifying nights
To achieve Hyatt Globalist status, you need to stay 60 tier-qualifying nights at Hyatt properties within a calendar year. Your Globalist status will be valid until February of the second year following your qualification.

Hyatt describes "tier-qualifying nights" as nights spent at a Hyatt hotel or resort where you pay an eligible rate or redeem a free night award, while associating your membership number with the reservation. However, promotional rates offering a free night — like the "stay four nights, get the fifth night free" deal — do not count toward tier-qualifying nights. Similarly, stays charged to a group master account won't accumulate tier-qualifying nights.

If these nights are booked at off-peak Hyatt Category 1 hotels, you could attain Globalist status for just 210,000 Hyatt points each year. Alternatively, staying at an average rate of $150 per night would mean acquiring Hyatt Globalist status for $9,000 annually.
However, as I will explain in the upcoming sections, there are strategies to reduce the number of nights you need to stay with Hyatt annually to qualify for Globalist status through tier-qualifying nights.
Double elite night promotions
Hyatt sometimes runs promotions that allow you to earn double tier-qualifying nights. For instance, during early to mid-2024, Hyatt members could receive twice the tier-qualifying night credits at Thompson and Dream hotels.
If you're concerned about not meeting the 60-night threshold for Hyatt Globalist status, consider adjusting your travel plans to take full advantage of a double elite night promotion.
Utilize spending on Hyatt credit cards
If you're aiming for Hyatt Globalist status, consider adding the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to your collection. Both cards allow you to accumulate Hyatt points on your purchases and offer various perks for Hyatt enthusiasts. Additionally, they enable you to earn tier-qualifying nights.
With the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you will receive five tier-qualifying night credits each calendar year, plus two more tier-qualifying night credits for every $5,000 spent on the card (credited in the calendar year the spending occurs). Therefore, by spending $140,000 annually on your World of Hyatt card, you can achieve Hyatt Globalist status.
With the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you earn five tier-qualifying night credits for every $10,000 spent each year. Thus, by spending $120,000 on your World of Hyatt Business card annually, you can maintain Hyatt Globalist status without needing any hotel stays.

Gift Guest of Honor awards
In late 2023, World of Hyatt introduced updates to its well-known Guest of Honor benefit. Now, Hyatt members can earn Guest of Honor awards through the Hyatt Milestone Rewards program, and lifetime Globalist members receive five Guest of Honor awards each year.
When Hyatt members gift a Guest of Honor award to another member, they earn one tier-qualifying night credit once the recipient completes their stay. Thus, giving Guest of Honor awards has become a method to earn a few tier-qualifying nights each calendar year.
Spend with Hyatt
You will also qualify for Hyatt Globalist status in any calendar year where you earn 100,000 base points. Additionally, achieving lifetime Globalist status is possible once you accumulate 1,000,000 base points over your lifetime.
Base points are distinct from bonus points. Specifically, you will only earn base points on eligible rates, incidental charges, and non-stay charges at Hyatt properties. For eligible expenses, you earn 2.5 base points per dollar at Hyatt Studios hotels and 5 base points per dollar at other Hyatt locations.

To attain Hyatt Globalist status, you need to spend $20,000 on eligible expenses at Hyatt properties (excluding Hyatt Studios hotels, which earn at a lower rate) each calendar year. This spending can come from one short yet luxurious stay or multiple practical stays throughout the year.
Status match
World of Hyatt typically does not provide public status match offers. However, in 2023, there was a 90-day World of Hyatt trial and challenge for Bilt Rewards members that allowed members to achieve Globalist status after just 20 nights. Towards the end of 2023, some AAdvantage members received a Hyatt status challenge offer through the partnership between American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt. Additionally, Concierge Key members automatically receive Globalist status upon linking their AAdvantage and Hyatt accounts.
If you're seeking a faster route to World of Hyatt status, consider linking your AAdvantage and Hyatt accounts and getting involved with the Bilt Rewards program, as we've observed prior opportunities through these channels.
Determine how you will achieve Hyatt Globalist status
Regrettably, there is no way to earn Hyatt Globalist status through a combination of base points and tier-qualifying nights. Therefore, each year, you'll need to decide early whether you plan to pursue Hyatt Globalist status through tier-qualifying nights or base points.
If you intend to qualify using base points, focus on paying for Hyatt stays at eligible rates. Additionally, make sure to charge all eligible expenses to your room to maximize your base points earnings.
If you aim to achieve Hyatt Globalist status through tier-qualifying nights, you'll likely want to accumulate these nights using a variety of strategies. For instance, this year I plan to obtain the following:
- 49 tier-qualifying nights from stays at Hyatt hotels and resorts
- Five tier-qualifying nights as a holder of the World of Hyatt Credit Card
- Six tier-qualifying nights by spending $15,000 on my World of Hyatt Credit Card
- Two tier-qualifying nights from gifting Guest of Honor awards
Among my 49 tier-qualifying nights, I've booked paid rates for 15 nights, utilized free night certificates for five nights, and redeemed 382,000 points for the remaining 29 nights. Most of my Hyatt points were earned through spending on my Hyatt credit card, taking advantage of Hyatt promotions, and transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.
Bottom line
Hyatt Globalist status is highly sought after due to the benefits it offers during stays. However, meeting the requirement of 60 tier-qualifying nights or 100,000 base points can be challenging for loyalists each calendar year, particularly since there are few shortcuts available. Yet, with strategic planning and having the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, it is feasible to secure Hyatt Globalist status without needing to spend 60 nights or $20,000 at Hyatt each year.
