A $400 Five Guys meal? Welcome to New Year’s Eve in Dubai, where the celebrations are as extravagant as the price tags.

Dubai is renowned for its dazzling displays of luxury and extravagance every day of the week, making it hard to imagine it could get any more opulent.
Enter, New Year’s Eve.
Dubai has built a reputation as one of the world’s top destinations for New Year’s Eve celebrations, and it’s also one of the priciest. Much of this is due to the awe-inspiring fireworks show at Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on the planet, which is preceded by a spectacular water ballet from the world’s largest fountain. In 2019, the Burj put on an incredible five-minute firework display, featuring 1,371 kilograms of pyrotechnics.

Although this year's celebrations might look a bit different due to the pandemic, the Burj Khalifa fireworks show will still take place, along with displays at other iconic locations like The Pointe and Burj Al Arab, all with social distancing measures in effect. The UAE is also welcoming nearly all international tourists.
Here are the top spots in Dubai to send off 2020 in style—if you’ve got the cash to spare.
