A New York City eatery presents $200 gourmet fries | Dinogo

Jerome Powell, this one’s for you.
Guinness World Records has officially recognized the achievement. As of July 13, these fries hold the title of the world’s most expensive.
“Serendipity is truly a place of joy,” said Joe Calderone, the creative director and chef. “People visit to celebrate, to escape life’s realities for a while.”
The Crème de la Crème Pommes Frites begin with Chipperbec potatoes. They're blanched in a mix of vinegar and champagne before being fried in pure goose fat, not once but twice, to achieve a crisp exterior and a tender interior.
These gourmet fries are dusted with edible gold, seasoned with truffle salt and truffle oil, and served on a crystal plate with an orchid, thin slices of truffles, and a creamy Mornay cheese dip, also infused with truffles, a rare seasonal mushroom.
“Truffle takes the spotlight here,” said corporate executive chef Frederick Schoen-Kiewert.
Like many others, Serendipity had to close its doors during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Calderone and Schoen-Kiewert saw the extravagant fries as the perfect way to mark the restaurant’s reopening.
It’s working. The fries now have an 8- to 10-week waiting list.
“It’s been a tough year and a half for everyone, so it’s time to have some fun,” said Calderone.
