Braised Short Ribs, Plant-Based Options, and Luxury Amenity Kits—Delta's Plan to Enhance Premium Economy

Passengers in Premium Select can look forward to a celebratory champagne toast, a delightful amuse-bouche after takeoff, bespoke amenity kits, and plush memory-foam pillows among the upcoming enhancements on select Delta flights.
On September 20, Delta revealed its plans to revamp the Premium Select service (a class positioned between economy and business, featuring wider seats with extra recline and leg rests) on all transatlantic and transpacific routes. Here’s a summary of the new features.

Enhanced Dining Experience
In the past year, Delta has been revitalizing its in-flight dining to feature products from women- and LGBTQ-led small businesses (such as Explorer Cold Brew and High Road Craft ice cream sundaes), an increase in plant-based options, and seasonal menus.
Among the new culinary options for Delta Premium Select passengers are:
- Braised beef short rib accompanied by fingerling potatoes and a Dijon green peppercorn sauce
- Plant-based Impossible Meatballs served with polenta, pomodorini sauce, and broccolini
- Honey harissa chicken thighs paired with jollof rice and stewed greens
- Mango mousse topped with a mango–passion fruit compote
Meals will be presented on compostable plates made from plant fibers, along with standard silverware, glassware, and linens. Additionally, Delta will introduce a “bubbles and bites” course featuring sparkling wine and a treat, to be served shortly after takeoff.

Artisan-crafted amenity kits
Starting in October, Premium Select travelers will receive an amenity kit created by Someone Somewhere, a company that collaborates with nearly 200 artisans, predominantly women, from some of Mexico’s most impoverished regions to produce fair trade bags. Each kit contains details about the artisan who crafted it, along with earplugs, socks, an eye mask, a dental kit, and vanilla watermelon lip balm from the luxury skincare brand Grown Alchemist.
Luxury accessories
If you're embarking on a long-haul journey, you likely want to catch some sleep, and Delta's new premium amenities are designed to assist you. They feature:
- Memory foam pillows
- Noise-canceling headphones
- A cozy blanket
Expanded destinations
Recently, Delta has increased the number of destinations offering its Premium Select seating. Flights mainly depart from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport. Some of the nonstop destinations include Brussels, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Munich, Prague, and Zurich.
