Carnival enthusiasts are about to enjoy a dramatically redesigned private island.

Exciting news for Carnival Cruise Line fans: A trip to a spectacularly revamped private island is on the horizon.
On Tuesday, the world’s second-largest cruise line announced a variety of new Caribbean itineraries that will include a stop at Half Moon Cay, a private island set for extensive expansion.
Starting in 2026, the new itineraries will be offered on seven Carnival ships departing from four home ports: Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida, Galveston, Texas, and Baltimore, Maryland.
Already renowned for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, Half Moon Cay will undergo a significant transformation featuring expanded beach areas, new dining options, and additional drinking venues, according to Carnival.

Also planned for the private island is a new pier that will enable Carnival's largest ships, including the 5,282-passenger Mardi Gras and its sister ships Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, to dock there.
In its announcement on Tuesday, Carnival shared relatively few specifics about the expansion of Half Moon Cay but indicated that more information about the project will be released soon.
Half Moon Cay first opened to cruise ships in 1997. Initially, it was leased and exclusively used by Holland America, a sister brand of Carnival. Over time, it also began welcoming Carnival ships.
Carnival acquired Holland America in 1989, and both brands now operate under the umbrella of the parent company Carnival Corp.
In 1996, Holland America secured a 99-year lease for Half Moon Cay. Initially named Little San Salvador, the 2,400-acre island was uninhabited and lacked running water and electricity at the time of the lease signing.

Holland America initially invested $16 million to prepare the island for cruise ships and has continued to enhance it over the years. Today, the island features rental beach villas, an oceanside cabana for massages, and a multilevel water play area for kids, among many other attractions.
On Tuesday, Carnival announced that new itineraries featuring the revamped Half Moon Cay will launch in 2026, including a variety of seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing from Miami on the Carnival Celebration — one of the line's largest ships.
Along with Half Moon Cay, the new Carnival Celebration itineraries will stop at Carnival's upcoming Celebration Key and include a mix of ports such as Nassau in the Bahamas, Grand Turk, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, Cozumel in Mexico, Mahogany Bay in Honduras, St. Thomas, and San Juan in Puerto Rico.
Other new itineraries featuring the revamped Half Moon Cay will include seven-night sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean departing from Port Canaveral on Mardi Gras.
These voyages will also stop at a selection of ports, including Celebration Key, Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Nassau, Cozumel, and Mahogany Bay, in addition to Half Moon Cay.
Alongside Mardi Gras, Carnival Venezia will introduce new itineraries from Port Canaveral.
New itineraries launching from Galveston will feature six- and eight-night cruises to the Western Caribbean aboard Carnival Jubilee.
The six-night itineraries will include stops at Cozumel and Mahogany Bay, while the eight-night itineraries will visit Key West, Florida; Nassau; Half Moon Cay; and Celebration Key.
The new itineraries from Galveston will launch in September 2026. Before that, Carnival Jubilee will offer seven-night itineraries that include stops in Cozumel, Mahogany Bay, and Costa Maya, Mexico.
Two additional Carnival ships, Carnival Dream and Carnival Breeze, will also be offering new itineraries from Galveston.
On Tuesday, Carnival announced new weeklong voyages featuring the revamped Half Moon Cay, departing from Baltimore on Carnival Pride.
In addition to Half Moon Cay or the other private island, Princess Cays, the sailings will include stops at Nassau and Celebration Key. Carnival Pride will also operate cruises to Bermuda in 2026.
