Delta Is Expanding to These European Destinations Next Summer
Following the launch of its new domestic schedule—which includes connections to numerous cities renowned for outdoor activities—Delta Air Lines has revealed its updated transatlantic flight offerings for summer 2024, featuring routes that haven’t been flown in years.
“There’s never been a better opportunity to discover Europe with Delta,” said Joe Esposito, senior vice president of network planning, in a statement. “Travelers looking forward to summer adventures abroad will encounter an abundance of exciting options—along with the premium services and amenities that Delta customers expect and appreciate.”
Here’s a summary of the new routes to Europe that Delta intends to operate starting in 2024.
Delta’s newest international expansion plans
Delta anticipates that summer 2024 will feature the airline’s largest transatlantic schedule to date. The latest additions include:
- New daily service to Naples, Italy, from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, starting May 23, 2024, and operating until October 25, 2024. Delta already offers flights from JFK to Milan, Venice, and Rome.
- Resumption of service to Shannon, Ireland, from New York’s JFK International Airport. This daily service will also start on May 23, 2024, and run through October 6, 2024. Delta also connects to Dublin from Atlanta, Boston, and Minneapolis.
- New flights to Munich from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, operating three times a week from April 9, 2024, to October 24, 2024. Delta also serves Munich from Atlanta and Detroit.
- Return of flights to Zurich from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, with service four times a week from May 31, 2024, to September 8, 2024. This route has been inactive since 2019 and complements existing service from New York.
Delta also announced it will increase flights on these popular existing routes:
- Atlanta to Paris
- Atlanta to Venice
- Boston to Athens
- Cincinnati to Paris
- Detroit to Paris
- Detroit to Reykjavík
- New York JFK to Barcelona
Details about these additional flights are not yet available, and they are not currently bookable.
Delta’s Continued International Expansion
Delta has been aggressive in expanding its international routes this year. The airline has already announced the introduction of a new nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand; increasing service to various cities across Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America; and adding or enhancing service to several European destinations, such as Paris and Berlin.
“We’re thrilled about the chance to cater to our customers as we build on this remarkable year for our international schedule in response to an unprecedented rise in global travel demand,” a Delta representative shared with Dinogo.
Despite several high-profile expansion announcements, Delta is set to eliminate a few international flights, including those from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to various destinations in Germany and from New York’s JFK International Airport to cities in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, and Sweden. Additionally, Delta has put on hold the planned resumption of flights from Detroit and Seattle to Beijing for the foreseeable future, even with China reopening to tourists.
