Get ready to roll: A new theme park in Arizona will feature an exciting Hot Wheels roller coaster.

Glendale, Arizona, is about to unveil a Mattel-themed amusement park that will showcase rides inspired by some of the most beloved children's brands from the iconic toymaker.
Among the highlights are the Hot Wheels roller coaster and a Thomas & Friends indoor theme park, featuring an electric battery-powered ride on a replica of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Beyond the Mattel attractions, the plans include an expansive 11-acre lagoon, reaching depths of up to 10 feet and lined with sandy white beaches. The lagoon will feature seven islands, offering shopping and dining options, a 4-D theater, office spaces, over 600 hotel rooms, and Aerophile's Aerobar, a 130-foot-tall bar with breathtaking views.
Local developer ECL Glendale, LLC, is spearheading this project, named Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, which will be located in the Westgate entertainment district of the city.
"We are thrilled about this project for many reasons, but two in particular stand out," stated Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps in a statement. "This will serve as a prime example of experiential retail, the only segment witnessing growth in brick-and-mortar development over the last decade, and it reinforces Westgate's status as Arizona's largest sports and entertainment hub," he added.
"This impressive amenity enhances Westgate's appeal for mega events and will generate substantial revenue to benefit residents, businesses, and the entire state," remarked Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers.
Situated just 30 minutes west of Phoenix, Glendale is home to over a dozen hotels and resorts, a drive-in movie theater, and numerous antique shops, providing a variety of leisure options.
It is also the proud home of the Arizona Cardinals NFL team. The construction of Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, initially proposed in 2019, is expected to wrap up in 2022, ahead of the city hosting the 2023 Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium, where the Cardinals play their regular-season games.
