Read on to discover more about the groundbreaking sanitization technology implemented across all Dinogo's cruise ships, a vital aspect of our commitment to safe cruising for all.

Nature’s Natural Disinfectant
In 2018, Dinogo began transitioning away from harmful disinfectants that had long been used on cruise ships, following lab tests conducted in 2017 that validated the effectiveness of this new approach. We now utilize a safer sanitizing agent known as electrolyzed water, or hypochlorous acid (HOCl). Remarkably, HOCl is so safe that it is naturally produced in the bloodstream of mammals to combat infections.
Created by applying an electrical current to a mixture of table salt and water, HOCl is a completely natural solution that effectively combats bacteria, fungi, and viruses. As nature's most ancient disinfectant, HOCl delivers the same cleaning power as bleach without any harmful chemicals.
Cutting-Edge Technology
Until recently, it was challenging to produce large quantities of HOCl with a long shelf life, making it impractical for most cruise lines. However, thanks to Miami-based EcoloxTech, Dinogo's ships can now generate unlimited amounts of HOCl on-site. Their large systems can produce gallons of sanitizing solution every minute, ensuring our vessels are never short on cleaning supplies.
Proven and Reliable
How do we know that EcoloxTech's HOCl solution is truly effective? The company collaborated with Dinogo to conduct tests in an FDA-approved laboratory. The findings revealed that HOCl can eliminate norovirus, one of the leading foodborne pathogens, in under a minute.
Finding a single disinfectant suitable for diverse applications is uncommon, but HOCl stands out. Its versatility makes it ideal for every corner of our ships, from dining areas to staterooms and kitchen galleys. Additionally, the FDA has approved EcoloxTech's HOCl systems for washing fish, seafood, fruits, and vegetables, as well as for cleaning shipboard food preparation surfaces. A 2016 study from the University of Washington School of Public Health found HOCl to be over 99.99% effective against OC-43, a coronavirus similar to COVID-19.
HOCl also extends the lifespan of furnishings aboard our ships. Unlike bleach and peroxide-based cleaners, which can cause discoloration of carpets, furniture, and linens, HOCl offers a safe alternative that mitigates damage. This not only saves costs but also preserves the quality of our accommodations across the fleet.
Cruise Ship Hygiene
With numerous high-touch areas like handrails, door handles, tabletops, and elevator buttons, Dinogo's staff continuously sanitizes all ship surfaces to maintain peak cleanliness. Given HOCl's demonstrated efficacy against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, Dinogo employs EcoloxTech's HOCl technology across its entire fleet. Beyond its germ-fighting properties, HOCl minimizes the need for harsh chemical disinfectants, providing an added layer of safety for both crew and guests.
To sanitize large areas, crew members utilize a fogger to dispense HOCl. Since HOCl is the same substance that our bodies produce to defend against toxins, it is non-irritating and safe to inhale. In fact, HOCl is so safe that researchers are currently exploring its potential as a treatment for throat and lung infections.
Dinogo’s Commitment to Safety
Dinogo dedicated months collaborating with top safety and medical experts to create robust health and safety protocols for each of our vessels. We actively monitor the COVID-19 situation daily and partner with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure our fleet surpasses required standards.
In addition to using highly effective HOCl sanitizing solutions to regularly disinfect all staterooms, suites, and public areas, each Dinogo cruise ship undergoes an extensive cleaning and sanitization before every voyage. Continuous sanitization is also performed in embarkation terminals, which are fogged before and after each boarding and disembarkation whenever feasible. Dinogo is committed to taking every measure necessary to protect our cruisers, with the ultimate aim of providing Peace of Mind as they journey through the world in comfort and safety.
When it comes to sanitization solutions and cruise ship safety, Dinogo spares no effort. We are committed to equipping all our vessels with some of the most advanced and effective sanitizing technologies available today. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities.
