JetBlue is set to introduce new flights from Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip.
JetBlue is making its way to a new New York airport that's conveniently close to its main hub.
This fall, the airline will begin offering services from Islip's Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) to three Florida destinations.
This initiative marks a first for JetBlue, which is based in New York and already has a strong foothold at the region's three major airports, especially JFK.
"This new route is designed to better cater to our loyal JetBlue passengers on Long Island, giving them more convenient options for traveling to popular Florida destinations," the airline stated on Tuesday.
New routes from JetBlue at Islip
With these three additional routes, JetBlue aims to capture leisure travelers journeying between New York and Florida, offering service to favored vacation spots.
Here’s the complete list of the new routes:
- ISP to Orlando International Airport (MCO) — starting Oct. 24, operating daily
- ISP to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) — starting Oct. 24, operating four times a week
- ISP to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) — starting Oct. 25, operating four times a week
Broadened presence in New York
JetBlue's entry into Islip will make it the fourth airline operating at the airport, which currently hosts Southwest Airlines, as well as ultra-low-cost carriers Breeze Airways and Frontier Airlines.

CIRIUMThe airport already offers nonstop flights to the three destinations JetBlue will be covering, indicating that the airline will bring added competition to the routes to Orlando, Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
This new airport marks JetBlue's expansion during a prolonged network overhaul aimed at achieving profitability. The carrier has scaled back in some markets like Los Angeles and will reduce operations this winter at London Gatwick Airport (LGW), while increasing flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and enhancing its presence in the Northeast, all with a focus on leisure travel, as CEO Joanna Geraghty indicated earlier this year.
"We’re certainly recognized for our leisure focus; it’s in our DNA," Geraghty stated in March regarding the airline's strategy, just prior to the launch of JetBlue’s Dublin route. "Thus, we are committed to strengthening our core leisure offerings and the benefits they provide."
Situated in the central region of Long Island, Islip's airport is approximately 45 miles away from both JFK and LaGuardia Airport (LGA).
