New Outdoor-Focused Lodges and Glamping Resorts Coming to Yosemite National Park
Nature enthusiasts who visit Yosemite National Park for its stunning waterfalls, towering granite cliffs, and trails through the redwood forest will soon have even more lodging choices, with four new locations opening in the next year, alongside a significant renovation of the park’s flagship hotel.
After the spring 2024 launch of Firefall Ranch and Wildhaven Yosemite, a new Under Canvas site and Outbound Yosemite will debut in 2025, while the historic Ahwahnee hotel is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation expected to be completed by year-end.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming outdoor-themed accommodations in Yosemite National Park.

Wildhaven Yosemite, launched May 2024
Offering breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada, Wildhaven Yosemite welcomed its first guests on May 1, 2024. Situated 45 minutes from the Mariposa entrance of Yosemite National Park (just a mile from downtown Mariposa), the site features 12 climate-controlled cabins in studio and one-bedroom configurations, each equipped with a kitchenette, private bath, and outdoor seating area with a firepit. Additionally, there are 30 sMytouri-style tents, each containing one or two queen beds or a queen bed with two sets of bunk beds. These tents boast a private covered deck and share access to a communal bathroom and shower facility.
On-site amenities include hiking trails (with one leading to a hilltop pergola for stunning sunset views) and a clubhouse where guests can buy barbecue kits and locally brewed beverages. Daily activities feature yoga, wine tastings, and live music performances, with nightly rates starting at $200.

Firefall Ranch, opening May 2024
The brand-new Firefall Ranch opens its doors on May 8, 2024, named after the natural spectacle that occurs every February when the setting sun strikes Yosemite’s Horsetail Falls at just the right angle, making the water look as if it is on fire.
This resort—developed by the same team behind the family-friendly Evergreen Lodge and Rushcreek Lodge and Spa—is situated in Groveland, just minutes from Yosemite’s northwest entrance. It features 55 standalone cottages and villas available in one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. Each unit includes a living area (with an additional queen sofa bed), an indoor/outdoor gas fireplace, and a private deck with views of 300 acres of meadows and forested hills. Guests can choose from three dining options: a General Store (offering coffee, grab-and-go lunches, and snacks), the Firefall Ranch Tavern (a relaxed spot for tapas and craft cocktails), and the Firefall Ranch Restaurant (a more upscale all-day dining experience featuring acai bowls for breakfast and flame-grilled meats for dinner). On-site amenities include a pool area, yard games like bocce and horseshoes, a spa, nightly fireside s’mores, and a team of professional guides for hiking, rafting, and snowshoeing activities. Rates start at $675 per night.

Under Canvas Yosemite, opening May 2025
Renowned for its sMytouri-style tent camps near national parks, Under Canvas is set to open its 12th location on 80 acres of pine-studded forest just 10 minutes from Yosemite National Park’s west entrance on May 22, 2025. Each of the 70 tents will feature king-size beds (equipped with heated mattress pads), bedside lanterns, and USB charging stations, as well as an en suite bathroom complete with a sink, shower, and toilet. All tents will have a private deck, with some offering stargazing windows above the beds. In the central lobby tent, guests can relax in the game area, dine in the café-style indoor-outdoor dining space, and book adventures like fishing, rock climbing, and rafting through the adventure concierge. Reservations for Under Canvas Yosemite’s inaugural season, running from May 22 to October 27, 2025, are now open. Rates start at $319 per night.

Outbound Yosemite, set to open summer 2025
Details about the upcoming newest Outbound location at Yosemite are still limited. Currently, the brand has announced that it will open in summer 2025, featuring 135 cabins spread across 17 acres, approximately 25 minutes from the southern entrance of Yosemite at Mariposa Grove (where guests can also enjoy views of giant Sequoias). The site will include a bar and restaurant, a pool, a lobby, and event spaces. Outbound Yosemite will be the fourth addition to the brand’s expanding portfolio, which already includes properties in Mammoth, Stowe, Vermont, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Outbound locations are situated in nature-rich areas, offering amenities like pools and trendy dining options with modern designs at reasonable prices. For reference, nightly rates at Outbound Mammoth start at $143.

The Ahwahnee, renovations to be fully completed by the end of 2024
The nearly century-old Ahwahnee, one of the few hotels situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, is currently undergoing a $31.6 million renovation funded by the Great American Outdoors Act. Earlier this year, the Ahwahnee reopened its iconic dining room, boasting impressive 34-foot ceilings, stunning chandeliers, wooden beams, and large windows. This semi-formal setting has been a major attraction for both guests and visitors over the years. The pool area is still being developed and is expected to be finished by the end of the year, along with upgrades to heating, air conditioning, and other essential infrastructure.
The Ahwahnee continues to welcome guests during its renovation (though it does advise about potential construction noise and interruptions during work hours). The legendary hotel offers 97 guest rooms in various configurations and 24 cottages suitable for larger groups. Securing a reservation can be challenging, particularly during peak season, but if you succeed, you’ll find yourself in the midst of the action, with minimal driving required once you park at the hotel, which is a short walk from Yosemite Village and several popular hiking trails, including Yosemite Falls and Cook’s Meadows Loop. Rates start at $500 per night.
