Kick off your family journey with a comprehensive view of the city. The Seine Cruise, Eiffel Tower & City Tour offers a trifecta of delights, featuring a scenic overview of Paris, priority access to the Eiffel Tower’s second level (where story windows reveal the mechanics of the lifts, and a glass panel vision well lets you peer down to the ground), alongside a one-hour cruise on the Seine. From the boat, you can play 'I spy' with various iconic Parisian sights, including the renowned Notre Dame cathedral (saved from destruction after the 2019 fire and set to reopen in late 2024).
After checking off some of the city's most famous attractions, venture off the beaten path to the bustling rue Daguerre in the 14th arrondissement for a true taste of local Parisian culture, lined with delightful food shops and cafés. Close by, adventurous teens may be drawn to Les Catacombes, an eerie stroll through corridors filled with skulls and bones. This haunting ossuary developed in the late 19th century when overflowing Parisian cemeteries relocated their remains to this damp, dark quarry. (Consider skipping this visit if your children are young or if anyone in your group experiences claustrophobia; it's definitely not for the faint-hearted.)

Established by Napoléon for the children of Paris, it features delightful old-fashioned activities. Kids can poke at 1920s-style toy sailboats on the Grand Bassin octagonal pond, enjoy rides on the lovely carousel, and be entertained by marionettes at the park’s quaint puppet theatre, Théâtre du Luxembourg. There are also pony rides and contemporary playgrounds. Snack kiosks sell treats like cotton candy and cold beverages, or you can bring a picnic (Parisian bakeries offer not only crunchy baguettes but also delicious filled sandwiches, savory quiches, and sweet pastries).
Finish your day in the nearby 5th arrondissement, better known as the Latin Quarter. The delightful candy shop Le Bonbon Au Palais offers a unique experience with its school geography classroom theme, featuring artisanal sweets from across France. Nearby, overlooking the Seine at square René Viviani (home to Paris’ oldest tree), the English-language bookstore Shakespeare & Company boasts cozy nooks filled with books, a wishing well, a dedicated children’s section, and an adjoining café.

Kick off your day by encountering lions, giraffes, vibrant pink flamingos, and white rhinos. You can observe these and around 3,000 other animals from cleverly concealed viewpoints throughout various biozones at the Parc Zoologique de Paris.
Nestled at the edge of Paris’ expansive eastern forest, the Bois de Vincennes, this zoo is worth a visit, especially during pleasant weather. Families will particularly enjoy the botanical Parc Floral de Paris, featuring stunning floral displays, playgrounds, and seasonal concerts and shows for children. Once royal hunting grounds, the forest is home to the Château de Vincennes, the only castle located within central Paris, complete with a moat. Older kids might also relish the chance to rent a rowing boat on the forest’s Lac Daumesnil.
The metro, Paris’ efficient and user-friendly underground rail system, will whisk you away to the Gare de Lyon mainline train station, where the spectacular art-nouveau restaurant Le Train Bleu provides a stunning setting for lunch. Their children’s version of gourmet multi-course menus features smaller servings of classic French dishes like scallops, monkfish, and beef tartare.
Afterward, hop back on the metro to discover another fantastic family spot, the northeastern Paris Parc de la Villette. More than just a park, it serves as a vast cultural center, offering attractions like the science museum, Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, which includes a special section for children ages two to seven, as well as a planetarium. Aspiring musicians will adore the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris complex, featuring a music museum, concerts, performances, instrument workshops, and a dedicated space for kids aged four to ten called the Philharmonie des Enfants.
From the Parc de la Villette, head southwest to Canal St-Martin, where you can enjoy the sight of swing bridges rotating to allow boats to pass, along with a plethora of cafes and restaurants lining its banks and nearby streets.

Culinary families should make a beeline for Montmartre in northern Paris. This district is renowned for its vibrant food shopping streets and specialized gourmet shops, hosting some of the most innovative dining spots in the city today, helmed by a new wave of creative chefs. A fantastic way to explore the area is through a small-group Secret Food Tour of Montmartre.
If you're eager to whip up your own dishes (and memories) in the kitchen, Montmartre's cooking school Cook’n With Class offers short classes with English-speaking professional chefs. Kids aged 12 and older can join alongside adults; for younger chefs, there are parent-child classes available where you can create a three-course French meal, pastries, or macarons, as well as classes specifically for kids.

Until then, you can enjoy outstanding exhibitions at its Musée National d’Art Moderne, showcasing France's national art collection from 1905 onward, along with art workshops for children aged three to 12 and teen events at Studio 13/16. Be sure not to miss the stunning panoramic views of Paris from the rooftop.
If your family visit aligns with the colder months (from October to March), don’t miss the city’s winter circus, the Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione, which has captivated children since 1852 in a remarkable 20-sided building on the eastern side of Le Marais.
Le Marais boasts a wide array of family-friendly restaurants, including the popular Breizh Café. This spot serves up authentic Breton savory galettes made from buckwheat flour, along with sweet crêpes topped with delights like rich salted caramel; multiple locations can be found throughout Paris.

Children enchanted by tales of princesses and princes, along with adults who appreciate history, will be captivated by the Château de Versailles. The Sun King, Louis XIV, transformed his father’s hunting lodge, located 14 miles southwest of central Paris, into this sprawling 700-room palace surrounded by exquisite formal gardens, complete with bubbling fountains, shimmering ponds, and winding canals. It was here that King Louis XVI and his queen, Marie Antoinette, ruled before the French Revolution led to the downfall of the monarchy. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the grandeur and historical significance of Versailles make guided coach trips from Paris a fantastic way to fully appreciate its context.
Other day trips from Paris include a guided bus tour to Giverny, running from spring to fall, where you can explore the charming Normandy village that was home to impressionist artist Claude Monet and his vibrant gardens.
If you have extra days in Paris, consider visiting family-friendly attractions like the amusement park Jardin d’Acclimatation, located in the western forest of Paris, the Bois de Boulogne, accessible via a charming ride-on train from Porte Maillot.
Further afield, Disneyland Paris tours offered by Delta Vacations, complete with tickets and transfers from the city, ensure you savor every magical moment at its two theme parks: Disneyland Park, known for its classic attractions and beloved characters, and Walt Disney Studios Park, where you can dive into the animated realms of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. Another fantastic amusement park within a day’s trip is Parc Astérix, inspired by the classic French comic series.
