Park Hyatt is set to unveil its fourth hotel in Japan, but don’t rush to secure your reservations just yet.
A new Park Hyatt hotel is on the horizon for Japan. However, you’ll need to bide your time before you can stay there.
Scheduled to open in 2029, Park Hyatt Sapporo will grace Hokkaido Prefecture in northern Japan. This luxurious hotel will join the ranks of Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono, a high-end ski resort in Hokkaido, alongside Park Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Kyoto. Park Hyatt Sapporo will occupy the top floors of a tower currently under construction at the busy intersection of Odori Park and Sapporo Ekimae-dori.
The Park Hyatt section within the Kengo Kuma-designed tower will offer 157 rooms and suites. While additional details remain limited, the hotel promises "world-class culinary and wellness experiences, an indoor swimming pool, and inspiring venues for meetings and events." This new establishment will add another luxurious option for guests looking to earn and redeem World of Hyatt points during their visit to Japan.
Park Hyatt Sapporo marks Hyatt's second collaboration with Heiwa Real Estate, the same developer behind the upcoming Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo, slated to open in 2025.

"We are truly grateful for their trust in Hyatt, and it’s a privilege to partner with them in enhancing the luxury landscape of this vibrant city," stated David Udell, Hyatt's group president for the Asia-Pacific region. "We are thrilled to be part of Sapporo's ongoing evolution, attracting more sophisticated business and leisure travelers, including World of Hyatt members, to explore Hokkaido."
The announcement of the new Park Hyatt aligns with Hyatt's broader expansion and revitalization efforts throughout Japan. Currently, the hotel chain operates 21 properties across nine brands in the country. The Hyatt Centric brand is set to launch in Sapporo in 2026, coinciding with the anticipated introduction of Hyatt's first ryokan brand, Atona, in Japan.
Naturally, hotel enthusiasts globally are eagerly anticipating the reopening of Park Hyatt Tokyo, which is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to welcome guests again within the next year.
