SeaWorld dives into 2023 with exciting water-themed coasters across all three parks

In 2022, SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Diego unveiled record-breaking roller coasters, while SeaWorld San Antonio introduced the world's largest "screaming swing," and SeaWorld San Diego opened the West Coast's inaugural Sesame Place park.

Thrill-seekers everywhere can rejoice as SeaWorld's ambition to be among the leading roller coaster destinations in the nation continues. Recently, all three SeaWorld parks have revealed plans for new coasters in 2023. Staying true to its aquatic heritage, each coaster features a unique ocean theme and storyline.

Pipeline: The Surf Coaster — located at SeaWorld Orlando

In the coming year, SeaWorld Orlando will introduce Pipeline: The Surf Coaster to its impressive roster of coasters. This unique stand-up "surf coaster" features ride vehicles designed like giant surfboards, allowing riders to "hang ten" as they navigate a series of thrilling twists and turns, complete with five exhilarating airtime moments and a "wave curl" inversion.

With its surf theme, Pipeline offers even beginner surfers a chance to "catch a wave" and speed towards the shore at exhilarating rates of up to 60 mph. Set to debut on May 27, 2023, this marks SeaWorld Orlando's seventh coaster.

Arctic Rescue — located at SeaWorld San Diego

Set to debut in spring 2023, Arctic Rescue will be the longest and fastest straddle coaster on the West Coast. Riders will be perched on snowmobiles, embarking on a journey into the frigid "arctic" to "rescue" animals from the threats posed by poachers and climate change.

While this may seem like an ambitious narrative for a roller coaster, SeaWorld aims to blend awareness and education with thrill, creating an experience that resonates with park visitors.

Featuring three exhilarating launches, each one faster than the previous, this family-friendly coaster reaches a maximum speed of 40 mph. With a minimum height requirement of 48 inches, families can enjoy the adventure of "riding to the rescue" together.

Catapult Falls — located at SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas is actively constructing the world’s first launched flume coaster, named Catapult Falls. Set to open in summer 2023, it will feature the steepest drop ever in a flume ride and North America's only vertical lift for a flume coaster.

As the name suggests, a flume coaster merges elements of a roller coaster with those of a water flume ride. Expect to get wet, but you might be surprised by how you reach the top of the thrilling drop. Instead of a conventional lift hill, Catapult Falls will elevate your raft to the peak of the 55-foot drop using an open-air elevator, earning its "vertical lift" title.

Boasting an exhilarating launch and numerous splashing moments, this hybrid coaster and water ride combines the best aspects of both experiences.
