Spotify will create the perfect playlist for your upcoming road trip.
Great news for music lovers: Spotify has unveiled a feature that curates a road trip soundtrack tailored to your driving route.
Let’s be honest: if you’re not jamming to "Life is a Highway" while cruising down the highway, are you even road tripping? (No, you’re not.)

According to The Verge, the new 'Soundtrack Your Ride' feature will craft a personalized playlist for you, taking into account your Spotify listening habits and a few questions about your musical preferences and road trip details. You’ll start by entering your trip's beginning and ending locations, and the service will use Google Maps to determine the route and trip length. Spotify and Google Maps first teamed up last year, continuing their collaboration following a 2017 partnership with Waze, and this is the latest feature from that tech alliance.
Spotify will ask you a few questions, including who's joining you on the trip, the type of car you drive, your preferred "drive vibe," and some details about your music taste. You'll need to specify your favorite road trip genre, which could range from pop and rock to hip hop, rap, EDM, or even a mood—though what exactly that entails is a bit vague.
You'll also need to select your "ultimate driving song" from a list of six options: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton, "Ridin' Solo" by Jason Derulo, "Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts, "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt, or "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers.
No pressure at all!
After that, Spotify will generate a playlist filled with enough tracks to keep you entertained for your entire journey without any repeats, and it will automatically save it to your library.
We gave it a try and found the service quite accurate, although it wasn't the easiest to set up. You can’t access it via the Spotify mobile or desktop app; instead, you'll need to go to this URL on either your computer or phone. It performed well on desktop, but some answer options were truncated on mobile. Nevertheless, it will create the playlist for you and provide a custom link for playback on any device.
Before you hit the road, ensure you're paying for your Spotify subscription with a credit card that offers bonus points for streaming services. Accumulating extra points during your vacation to fund your next getaway? Now that sounds appealing!
