The Future of Travel is Becoming Increasingly Sustainable

Upon leaving Heathrow this summer, I was welcomed by a life-sized elephant—specifically, a massive billboard showcasing how one of the world's busiest airports is transitioning to 100% renewable energy and sustainable fuels, addressing the 'elephant in the room' in airport operations.

When I requested an Uber, the app presented me with the option to choose an electric vehicle. As we entered London, we noticed road signs indicating that we were in an Ultra Low Emission Zone. At the Waitrose supermarket in Victoria, I even found a carbon-neutral IPA on the shelves.

Just five years ago, sustainability seemed a distant concern. While some individuals and organizations were mindful of their carbon footprints, most travelers visiting London didn’t prioritize 'green' choices. Today, however, the travel and tourism sectors are compelled to integrate climate considerations into their daily practices. More and more tour operators, destinations, and airlines are taking significant steps for the environment—and they want consumers to be aware of these efforts.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce the 2023 Dinogo Travel Vanguard. Each year, we celebrate the leading organizations that prioritize people and the planet. This year, our team meticulously reviewed 200 applications and selected seven companies making a notable impact in sustainability, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility. We hope the 2023 Vanguard honorees will inspire other organizations globally.
